Esprit Concept

I was recently sent this pic of the new Esprit. It looks legit. It has sort of a Lambo feel form a first glance, but I like it. I am courious as to what kind of power plant is sitting behind the seats.

Q: "Does it drive like an normal car?"
A: "NO! It's faster, revs higher, turns tighter, and brakes quicker. Plus it doesn't even start like a normal car."

Really? It looks incredibly photoshopped to me. Major things to note: the lighting doesn't match the shadows, the blue is blurry in one section but is clear in another, the front fender on the driver's side wheel has no depth, the section where the roof meets the 'roll bar' just doesn't match at all.

PS or not, it looks awesome.
That would make it a great GT with a BMW V8 tuned by Lotus.
$100k+ easily and worth every penny...

Both cars in the photos are very different. I assume one is the Lambo for comparison? (bottom one?)

This pic has been around for a long time (and posted here quite a few times) and has repeatedly been said to be way off by people who have seen the most recent actual photos from the factory guys. It is kind of cool though.

The rumor for power seems to be leaning towards a twin-turbo BMW V8, or possibly V10.

Very unlikely to be the new Esprit. According to a reliable, well-informed insider, the new Esprit has no front radiator or grille -- only side/rear radiators/vents. The new Esprit is also a much smaller car than the last one. Much more of the light, nimble car the Elise and Exige exemplify. It is also definitely not the orange car from the recently-seen magazine pics. That is much more likely to be Elise 3, despite the misleading plates pictured F & R.

The good news, of course is that it will be a real Lotus, regardless the powerplant they've chosen. It is targeted at ₤75,000 (about $130,700 at today's conversion rate). That's the price in Britain; could be adjusted to meet a lower dollar target in the U.S., will certainly have a different conversion rate when the car is previewed in late 2007 -- could be better or even worse, who knows?

I WANT IT I WANT IT WANT IT!

Must begin fabricating story that will convince wife it will seat 4...

And calculate # of deployments necessary to pay for it. I think maybe 5 consecutive years would do it - ARGH!

That just seems like crazy money, but if it is under 2500 lbs. and has the driving dynamics of an Elise, . Sounds like a Noble but perhaps with a better engine.
