Europa s1 843-10 questions

My friend has a 67 Europa S1. The motor is a Renault 843-10. I think that is the R16. I need a complete gasket set for the motor. Where can I get one?

What are the specs on this motor? Power? Redline? etc.....

join; lotuseuropa : A Mailing List Lotus Europa Enthusiasts

And ask them. Great bunch of guys, very knowledgeable.

By the way, the 843-10 is not the original motor. It should be a 697 variant

Also, get his S1 on the registry; Lotus Europa S1 Registry

As stated above, the 843 is not the original engine for the S1 Europa. Below are photos of the technical info. on the 843 from my Haynes R15 & R17 manual:

The 843 is basically a carbureted version of the R-17 fuel injected cross flow head 844 and is 98 HP in this form. As far as finding a gasket set, your best bet would be to check eBay for a NOS set. Normal inventory on those gasket sets dried up years ago in the US but you may be able to find one in Canada where the Renault cars were more popular.

Dave Bean use to support the renault motors with mainianace/minor stuff , call tommy he has an S1 , use to have a 47 . If not there I would try one of the Alpine/renault suppliers - MECA in france would have it for sure. I recall an outfit in Montreal handleing MECA stuff as well. Also Y. Boode in Illinois might have a line on it ( His outfit is called Historicracingcars.com ? ) fellow former A110 guy ..
