Keep in mind that the speed is in KMH. Great acceleration from 160kmh (100 mph) up when he leaves the cop in the dust.

did ya'll notice that the scandinavians know how to drive well and courteous enough to allow passing with oncoming traffic? both directions pull to the side and let the passer split the middle... till you get an a-hole or a idiot that's not paying attention. BAM! Not many accidents in those countries, but they're usually fatal. I saw a busy passing a semi, with a bus coming the other way... that was a little freaky.

funny how back then it was such an amazing car (remember the quattroruote article when it first came out) but today... well... a basic 540i bmw (a 550i would be overkill) would beat the pants of it. But, I wonder how it would 'feel' to drive vs. current cars.. steering, braking, shifting (you could actually shift it!!!)... power vs driving enjoyment... which would win?

There are four currently listed for sale in the UK on autotrader.co.uk - one with less than 8,000 miles. Again all are RHD Lotus Carltons (the UK base car is called Vauxhall Carlton, European/LHD ones are Opel Omega). Surprisingly, the place I usually find rare cars listed for sale doesn't have any on it. However they do have some othe rare Lotus cars available: http://www.classicdriver.com/uk/find...facturer=10074

I competed in the Silver State Classic (160mph class) in 2000/1 with my self built Lotus Carlton race car, and another Lotus Carlton road car (also from England) entered the same events in the touring class. For more info see www.racecar.co.uk/lotuscarlton
I have had enquiries about importing the LHD Omega version to the United States, but as it was never type approved for Federal use it would be difficult. |

These guys also did videos with motorcycles and other car chases.
If you search on ghostrider you can see some of the bike movies. Over 200 mph wheelies on a Hayabusa outside Stockholm (Capital of Sweden) Nuts but great videos, |
