Lotus Carlton vs. Vauxhall VXR8
Driver's Republic posted a new video of the two on the track.
The VXR8 is the Carlton's spiritual successor so the comparison is fitting. For those who don't know, when the Lotus Carlton debuted in 1990, it was the world's fastest sports sedan. The VXR8 is sold in the U.S. as the Pontiac G8 GXP. They're both very impressive cars! ![]() ![]() |

There was a Carlton at LOG 28 parked in front of the Hilton...impressive numbers indeed.
I don't know if it will ever happen however, Mike Kimberly CEO-Lotus has publicly stated he would like the company to bring back the Carlton ![]()

and it just proves how great Lotus engineering was back in the days and still are now...I can only imagine how much better the car would be 18 years later if Lotus ever gets the green light to do it all over again ![]()

I have a VXR8 and it's a great car. Not perfect but for the money it's just sooo much fun. It's like comparing how an elise handles to a TVR - sledgehammer versus scalpel. But with a Chevy LS2/3 it's pretty bullet proof and you can take it from 420bhp to over 600 with a supercharger for about £6000 and it doesn't even invalidate the warranty.
And when you just want to get from A to B just stick it in 6th and poodle at 1200 rpm. |

I really like the new G8 GT, yet for some reason the Vauxhaul has the better looking nose. Both would be fun to have!
