ReVerie Hardtop for 340R
ReV has been working on this project for some time. It is turning out to be a cool product for 340R owners who need a bit more weather protection.
This is still not yet complete but they are getting close.... |

They spent a lot of engineering and development time to make 340 cars. When they don't have an excess of resources that's probably not the best way to use them. It's not like doing the Exige 240R or something that is a simple extension of an existing product and that then translates into product development for a higher-volume model (the Exige S). I also kind of got the impression from them that the project became a real PITA for some reason.

Strange, I was just eyeballing a $35,000~ 340R earlier today and thinking "That would be a really fun car to import but I'd hate having to check the weather every 20 minutes". Maybe this is a solution

Many Lotus folk will contend the 340R has been the best Elise derivative. It is not for everyone since it is so focused. KMSElise is trying to bring a LHD model in from Japan. I hope to buy it when he moves onto his next toy...

That's an interesting solution to get air to the engine. Nice tho! Love to have a 340R keeping my Elise company in the garage.

I don't like the top much but you're NEVER going to come up with an attractive proposition.... however, it DOES solve a problem with the 340 that there's NO roof. I'd LOVE a 340R as my next car to go with my S1, I'm currently deciding between an S1 Exige or a 340R, The 340R wins hands down on looks because it's just SO MAD!!! But as a car the Exige would win as it'd have much better aero, useable weather protection and all-round competence (as well as being hellish sexy!)... however, this hardtop MIGHT just swing things back the 340R's way.

The car was designed without a roof and that is how it should stay, it just makes it look like a kit-car now...Bloody awful.
Other than the new 'track car' that lotus are producing it is the lightest variant of the elise to date with an S1 exige VHPD engine slapped in the back. Only problem with them is if you dink the bodywork you have to replace the whole shell at a price of 10k GBP and that doesn't include the fitting!! You can pick them up here in the UK now for approx 20k with 3-4000 miles on the clock. The orignial price was 35k IIRC. I think one of the main reasons that they became a PITA for Lotus was becasue they had a hard time selling all of them.....

It has a rearview mirror, but no way to see out the back that I can tell. Guess it's more hard core than an Exige in every way... including less rear visibility.
