March 28-30 Dragon Run

Hi Everyone,


I'm looking to get a few other Lotus owners together to hit the dragon the last weekend in March. There is another Lotus group going in June but it is during the week and I don't think I can wait that long .

We are driving up on Friday (Mar. 28th) after work and staying at Cherokee Friday night, meeting up early for breakfast and hitting the Dragon before it gets busy on (Sat. 29th). Then we'll probably do all of the other roads and come back on Sunday (Mar. 30th). There are some NSX's staging in TN Frdiay night but that is another hour drive from Cherokee so I figure we can meet up with them on Saturday morning at the Dragon.

I am very interested in going.

My cousin with an S2k is very interested in pruchasing a NSX. So this would be perfect for him.

Im going to sign up and post over on NSXprime. Those guys are all saying weather depending. So im 100% in as long as the week of the weather looks to be good.

1991 NSX, 03 350Z are all definites as well as myself from my group. We may have a C4 Vette and another 350Z but they are maybe's at this time.....

There are about 10 NSX's going from the NSX forum. I'm sure there will be other tag alongs.

The NSX guy seem to be staying in maryville.

Why not just try to get along in their hotel. Since because more than likely our group will be minimal.

BTW i did a search for future avg weather that time on a year. High mid 60's lows high 30's.

Now we just have to pray to the rain gods. My final decision will be made a week prior. When the weather reports come out. If it pours down rain the entire trip the dragon blows.

Well the main reason being it's an additional hour drive when leaving on a Friday afternoon right at Rush Hour. Usually everyone meets up in one spot early in the morning anyway before their 1st run anyway, so that was my reasoning. Plus we'll probably run over to the Casino and mess around later on that night.

There are multiple places to stay around Cherokee and on the TN side and please feel free to stay at either location, or anywhere else you may find. I just want to get a few other lotus drivers up for the weekend!

As it gets closer we'll set a time and place stage at!

well i figure i will prolly be able to take a half day at work friday. 5-6 hr drive. Puts me at the hotel around 7-8pm.

Please don't think we are anti-social, but there is also a mountain drive scheduled for March 29 in northeastern Alabama as a test run for one of the organized drives to be offered at LOG, so you may not get a lot of folks from Atlanta or around this area. It's an opportunity for us to discover some new asphalt to terrorize.

I'll probably be staying with you guys. Cherokee has more to do and it saves me an hour of driving. Two locations are fine, we'll establish a meeting spot somewhere in the middle each day.

Besides, the morning runs are my favorite part.

But that sounds fine with me. Since im coming from the north i presume it will save me an hour of driving as well.

Not yet. I've been dying to check one out but I can never manage to find one to play with.

This is the fourth of fifth dragon run I've been on but this will be the first one with Lotuses. First trip was with STis and Evos, second with S2ks, third and fourth with Vettes.

It's hard to get more than 7-8 NSXs so I like to get at least one other group going as well.


Matt has been on one of the runs with me so he can attest to the fun.

ive seen the videos of the police. Sucks there being such dickheads about it.

Im not looking to go to jail so unless it looks pretty clear i will probably be keeping it on the cruising side through the dragon itself at least.

I wouldn't have wanted to go any faster than when we went last time through the dragon. I haven't had the Lotus up there yet so I'll be more than happy to follow you through the twisties again!

The Dragon is great, but half the fun is getting there and driving all the other roads around the area.

Truthfully I'm not all that concerned about them *Knock On Wood*.

We're going to be up there before the official season goes into full force. I've been multiple times and they step up patrols every time there is a bad wreck. I'm not saying we won't see a cop here or there throughout the day but I think that will be more the exception rather than the rule!

Yeah, I doubt there will be many cops. They only come out in force during the summer when there are 10,000 motorcycles up there acting like its a grand prix circuit. Our gentle cruise through the mountains shouldn't generate much attention.
