Early Monsoon? Nearly Totals Lotus
So I was driving home from work just now and the wind was awful potent...
![]() Anyhow, I drove past an open field where they're doing construction and wound up in a cloud of dust. When I came out of it, a large tree or tree branch came crashing down in front of me. I swerved and planted my foot on the gas missing the obstruction by a few inches. I did, however, "lift" as I cleared the object in the turn and wound up doing a 720 to the middle of the street. My blood was pumping pretty hard. Felt like the kind of thing you're outside your body looking at from afar... Considering I just got my car back, I'm so grateful to be be safe and that no one/nothing got hurt. If I had hit that thing my car would have been TOTALEDAnyway, WTF is up with all this wind? Monsoon season coming early? ![]()

...hey, a 720's a lot better than a 540, not as controllable as a 360 but still better than a 180 in the end...lifting's a difficult reflex to suppress, especially in panic maneuvers, so consider it a valuable learning experience...
...get out and enjoy the wind tomorrow!..

We received 18" of snow here last night. As I headed out of our parking lot in my Fiat (my snow car), just for fun, since there were almost no other cars in the lot, I whipped a beautiful 360 spin right in front of one of our building's security cameras. When I came in this morning, I passed our building manager, who said "What was THAT last night?"
![]() On the street would have been another thing! Glad you came out pointing in the right direction! Tom |

Dang buddy, that was a close one. I had a tree nearly come down on me the same night. I got out of the way just in time too, but I didn't spin, I was taking ti pretty slow due to the gale force winds lol. Glad to hear everything is ok.

Wow, I'm not the only one...
I think I spun because I nailed the gas at 45, swerved left to avoid the tree, then cut right to get back on the correct side of the road which is where I believe I lifted - and subsequently spun... I've spun towards the passenger side before, but not the driver's side. It was pretty intense! One is grateful to come out unharmed from said situation! Kind of makes me want to go to the Lotus Driving School though - you know? Iron out the kinks in my patterns a bit, learn more about the car, and enjoy it more in return... Anyway, hope everyone has a great weekend. I just worked a charity event for Best Buddies AZ at Axis Radius in Scottsdale and it was a blast!
