Any St. Louis members willing to help me out? - LotusTalk

I've been in love with the Elise/Exige since the previous generation, but when I finally felt like I could comfortably afford one, the short test drive didn't impress me. The salesman wasn't the problem, he was great, it's just that the car was so different in so many ways, I didn't get enough seat-time to really make good judgements.

I'm hoping someone close to me (I live in Cape Girardeau, Missiouri) would be willing to spend a few hours swapping cars back and forth (cruise/lunch/cruise) so I can get to know the car a bit before I make my final decision.

All I've ever owned were manual sport & gt cars (RX-7/MR-2/Miata/S2000), so I'm somewhat familiar with driving these types of cars. Currently I drive a 4-door that was bought out of necessity, but this September when we trade the wife's Mazdaspeed MX-5 for a Legacy GT, I'll once again be able to own a 2-seater.

Please keep in mind that I'm not talking about crazy spirited driving here, more like just cruising through town and on some back roads so I can get a decent feel for the car.

Also, if you're more interested in swapping with the '04 Mazdaspeed MX-5 instead of the 4-door, it's no problem. Anyway, post here or shoot me a PM if it sounds like something you would consider.

Welcome to the board. Another option is renting one for the day? Enterprise has them in most major cities.

The idea of renting one never even crossed my mind, probably because I live in a small town with no "exotics" for rent. Also, I'm really hoping for some good conversation, you know, what do you like best/least, what would you change, what are the normal mods, etc.

What are you looking at - Elise or Exige? I assume Exige by your Avatar.

As far as Exige's go in St. Louis --- it's me. I'm the only one. I had a N/A Exige and now I have an S. I understand there is another 06 N/A near Springfield MO. I live just west of St. Louis.

What time frame are you looking at?
