KC Lotus owners should check out this thread. St. Louis Drive 7/26

Looks like the St. Louie crowd is having a drive that ends up just down the street in Columbia. Would probably be a cool opportunity to meet them there... I can't go, but hopefully you can!

Best,

Phil

Guys, we really need to have a KC GTG. I just did my first SCCA run this past weekend in Independence and I sucked! I need you guys to give me some ejumacation on how to set this thing up for Super Stock class. I have read tons of stuff in other sections and I keep going in circles and circles. Anyway, summer is going to be over before we know it and I would love to meet some of the locals and tell cracked fiberglass stories.

Set your camber, set your toe, and you'll be good to go

GTG in September if I had to guess

What settings would you recommend for the stock suspension? Am I able to adjust these with the stock suspension? Also do you have a recomendation on tires? I keep reading about the Toyo R888's as a good option. Are the Toyo's "R compounds" that I keep hearing about? I plan on getting a set of R comps for next season, once I figure out WTH I'm doing. Thanks for the tips!

The are R888s are pretty good tires for sure. They're r comps and DOT legal.

In the front, remove all your camber shims on both sides. I belive in SS, you have to leave your ABS bracket in place. Lots of LT threads about this.

In the rear, with R888s, you'll probably want to run 2.5 degrees or so of negative camber. Seems like for most cars, that's running 1 shim and abs bracket on the passenger side and 3 shims + abs bracket on the driver's side.

Then align the rear to 1.5mm toe in per side and straight ahead in the front (no toe). That's a pretty nuetral setup for the Lotus that handles well in most situations. As you get better at what you're doing, you'll probably find that you can shave time off by deviating from those settings a bit... THe factory alignment is usually terrible and will contribute to you being in consistent on the AX or the track...

And then their are tire pressures. Pick a presure and try it. Write it down and log how the car handles. Check tire temps, etc and try more or less pressure based on your findings...

It takes a while to get all this right. I'm not an AX expert by anymeans, but the rules of thumb in setup still apply. Again, lots of threads out there are AX setup..

Hope that helps a bit...

Best,

Phil

Thanks for the tips Phil, I appreciate it. Someday soon I think I'll make a trip down to your shop in Spring Hill and introduce myself. I live in Lenexa so it wouldn't be far at all, and I would like to see what services you offer that are mentioned on your website.

Hey, no Sweat.

Springhill?
It's overland park. It *was* Stilwell, but thanks to urban sprawl, it's now overland park. I'm officially a yuppie now, so you still get a good for the springhill comment

Dark-

Listen, I don't know about all that. But I do know that even though I ordered the touring package, my Elise did *not* come with touring wheels, so what gives, ya know...

Lotus Track Day!

OK, So it's not Lotus only, but the enthusiasm is there! The year is winding down FAST. Providing mother nature doesn't screw the whole thing up, this should be a fantastic wednesday for a track day. Be there or be REALLY square.

You can sign up at the gate. All you ned is a helmet and some initiative!

Hope to see you there!

Best,

Phil

PS- I dispatched an email about this as well. If you're near KC and didn't get the email, please EMAIL me so that I can add you to the list for GTGs and etc... my email is phil then the "at" symbol and then boefabrication dot com

All,

My friend Ann works for JD Reece and are having their annual United Way fundraiser. Each year they try to have a "draw" on state line to interest more people in coming by. The suggestion this year was to contact a *cough* Corvette club *cough* since in past years the fire engine they had sometimes had to leave for a fire leaving them -- well sorta naked.

Ann mentioned the Lotus to her broker and said that there were always questions and looks when we went out. They were wondering if I would ask everyone if there might be interest in "showing" off the "fleet of Lotii" during the event.

Here's her message to me:

------------------BEGIN----------------
Saturday Sept 26th 9am-2pm

Lisa-

Reece and Nichols Real Estate is trying to raise money for United Way. We would like to invite the Lotus Club to come join us for the festivities. We as a company are throwing a huge rummage sale and all the proceeds are going to the United Way. It would be great to have the car club come out and park in the parking lot where this event takes place! Lotus cars are like not other car and would attract a good crowd! Let me know if you can get some of your members to come out for a good cause!

South Gate Shopping Center
7600 State Line Rd
Prairie Village KS 66208
*In front of Reece & Nichols
(9am-2pm)
-----------------END--------------

I'll also send out an email / update our Facebook page with an event (GtG for United Way Fundraiser (Prairie Village Area) | Facebook)

Just let me know if it sounds like you might be interested and sign up on Facebook if you can. This way I can let Ann know if she needs to call the Corvette club
