Thanks for the info - good to know there are some easy improvements that work for the '05 pedal placement. I've debated picking up an '05 for the track and that was one of my concerns. I imagine I'll stick with my plans to sell the Z in the next month or so and start building up a turbo Miata track car, but if that doesn't pan out I'll undoubtedly revisit the notion of getting an Elise knowing that the pedals really aren't an issue.

Looking at this thread and where people live, I think I must see Eric now and then. I live just off the Plaza, not far from him it would appear. I've seen a silver Elise a few times in the last several months not far from home.

I've never (properly) heel'd and toe'd the car - it's too freaking difficult - and I'm already doing 22 other things at the same time while on the track...

I need new tyres and the AD07's are on backorder! So I decided to order a set of Anthracite TD wheels from BWR and ordered some RE01R's for the rear for now until the wheels get here (in a couple months) I figured the anthracite was worth the wait. I agree with Phil, it'll look great on the CO car, better than black.

Hey a powder coating group idea. I'd like to powder coat my fuel door black, if somebody else is interested we could all use the same oven.

Try unplugging your data recorder, chase cam, leave your cell phone in the pits, and break off your rear view mirror ahead time so it's not flopping around in the cabin. That should free up some brain power for the heal-toe

Cheers, Phil

I think you're going to have a mighty sexy car with the TD wheels. I'm a big fan of them

I've got a better than average connection to a powder coat shop (owner is a neighbor). If you need it black, I think I can arrange that for as cheap as anyone (case of beer maybe)... Drop me a line and we'll work something out...

Later,
Phil

Hmm, sounds great, because I need my diffuser done as well. I can do better than a case of beer for him too.

You're a funny guy Phil...

Doesn't matter what car I have - heel-n-toeing has always been difficult, especially in this car - I have Triple-E wide feet.

Hey Noel,

Hope you can make it. The next published date is 8/15. However, they mentioned that they're going to try and squeeze another track day in towards the begining of August since they skipped the July track day. That said, I can't find any note of the an additional date on the website

Man you needed tires like 3 months ago. Get that rubber ordered before you end up in a ditch

Later,

Phil

Hi folks,

I live about an hour east of Kansas City. I recently sold my C6 Vette and would like to get into an Elise. However, I can't find anywhere to service the car nearer than St. Louis...

Any tips or help would be appreciated, so I can pull the trigger on this car already.

Thanks!
-Ryan

Welcome to the gang. A lot of us do minor (and some major stuff by the more crafty members) on the car.

I think I saw that someone (Dave?) just bought a white one from that MMC dealer selling at $10 under msrp. So add one more, I think.

In regards to service, do the oil and disposables yourself (I'm an atty and I can figure it out, so you should be fine) and just have fun tearing up I70 to St. Louie if you need major warranty service.

The times I've needed warranty service, I've called Mike (the service mngr at MidRivers) and told him what I thought the problem was. He then orders the part in, I drive there and they get it done pronto. When I needed the guage cluster replaced, he had me out of there at 9:30 - I was expecting it to be an all day affair.

Last thing - in regards to MidRivers, dont' let the sleazy cheezy salesman turn you off. The service dept. is excellent and they don't care where you purchased your vehicle.

Good to see this, but have you been handling major repairs out of pocket if you can't drive it too St. Louis?? Or have you just been fortunate not to run into anything major?
We were there a week ago to test drive, but are still on the fence about it and the distance from the dealer is a big hurdle. I get the perception that these may have thier fair share of problems......potentially.
Good to hear your comments about the service dept. The dealership seemed a little iffy from a first impression.

I am not aware of anyone in the KC area having any major repair under waranty. A couple with some body damage, but both were not under waranty and handled locally. I have made the trip to St. Louis several times. I can normally do it in a single day, but the biggest service was for a shifter recall that added less than an hour to routine service. Service there has been very good.

I have had regular service done at George's Imports and Eudell's Service in Meriam. Both have done excellent jobs.
