Question about Hallett HST Event Oct 27+28

http://www.hallettracing.net/comma.html

I'm thinking that I'd like to do this along with Mark "Feff" Pfeffer's event on the 29th (just sent in the money and filled out the form!).

Anyone have any idea if I'd be welcome for this? It looks like it may be some kind of Mini Cooper Event or something...

Any idea on who I would contact if I had questions?

It looks like I'd just become a 'member' for $35 and then pay $95 for Saturday. For Sunday I'm a bit confused. Can I pay another $95 for Sunday? or do I have to do the $125 'race entry'. I'd rather not 'race', but I would be interested in getting in some laps.

Hallett questions?

I guess we need a bit more information. Is it your intention to be running a full out racecar? If not, then running both Saturday and Sunday is not a big deal. You only need to pay the membership fee once per year. Pay your $95 on sunday and you should be good to go. We generally do not let purpose built racecars run with the folks doing DEs.

I would suggest you contact the track ASAP if you are interested and make a reservation. HST/DE sessions fill up quickly.

If you have questions, feel free to give me a call or just e-mail me at 479-973-9138 (office number) or coopers66@aol.com.

Chief Instructor - Hallett High Speed Touring

PS: We'd love for you to join in on the fun. Hallett is a great track. COMMA weekends are very low key. Track time is abundent.

Cheers

The last one I can confirm was 1987 for me (joined the military, so I'm sure I got one then).

I just talked to Tim and it looks like the whole tetanus thing is 'nice to have' information. If you don't know when your last one was then they'll just give you another if you step on a rusty nail or something.

Tim did mention that if you are thinking of going that you should sign up early. There are limited spots as there will be a Mini Cooper school that weekend too. There will be plenty of time for the HST folks, but there won't be as many spots as there are on other weekends.

Cody, are you going?

I'm confirmed for this weekend.

I'm REALLY looking forward to it. I should have the RA1s and Volks on the car by then.

I would sure do it. But it's a long way to drive just to sit on the hood of my stupid car and watch you go around and around.

I've gotta pack for the trip to Altamont anyway.

I've done it the last two months, but I'm going to be busy for the pre-Halloween weekend. Here are my two previous threads on HST at Hallett (August and September). Also, the HST in November is just a couple of weeks after the October one, so I'm going to that. I don't even run race rubber, just the standard wheels and suspension with Yokohama S.drive tires.

Here is an e-mail from Connie, wo keeps track of everything, with more information:

The North American Mini Cooper Championship racers will be running with the Legends, so we adjusted the schedule for the races just a bit. However, there have been major adjustments to the High Speed Touring groups. There will be TWO groups: one group for 24 Mini-Coopers entered through www.minidriving,com. The other group will be for 24 COMMA HST drivers. Sunday there will be 12 Mini-Coopers and 12 other HST, for a total of 24 in one group. Entries will be accepted in the order received. As this will limit space for our regular HST participants, we are considering HST Friday, the 26th – seven sessions for $125. As soon as we receive 10 entries for Friday, I will post on our website and also let you know by email that HST is happening Friday 8 am – 5 pm at Hallett.

Just another clarification about the event listed on the schedule November 10-11. That is COMMA Tune & Test, not part of the COMMA Challenge. We are also planning three groups of High Speed Touring for that weekend: novice, intermediate, and expert. You may use the regular HST entry, but please indicate which group you would prefer to drive in. Any COMMA racers wanting to tune & test should enter as a regular Saturday participant: only $95 for 4 practices and one “fun race” both days, Nov 10-11. One of our dedicated GT1 drivers has assembled web pages of COMMA racers in all classes. Please take a look and let us know if there are any cars incorrectly identified. Thanks, Jeff, for a great service!
