I just bought a used 2005 Elise and now I need a good shop to maintain my car!

Hey all,

So I just bought a used Elise, and will take delivery of it next week. I am looking for a good shop in the LA area (I live in Hollywood and work in the South Bay). I am looking for something better than a dealership, since I plan on tracking the car quite a bit I want a shop that is very familiar with a track junkies' needs.

So anybody that has a full service shop that knows Elises really well and handles their maintenance, track prep, safety inspections, and is generally a good advice giver about Lotuses please let me know!

I definitely do a lot of the work on my car myself. But I still like to have a good shop that I can rely on when I don't have the time or specific knowledge.

I want to get a full inspection on the car by someone that knows them intimately and then when problems arise I want someone I can fall back on to do the work for me, and who really knows how to set up Lotuses for the track.

I did some searching for TRIPOINT. and All I came up with was Tripoint Engineering, they specialize in mazdas, so I dont think thats them!

Can you enlighten me? Whats the rest of their name? Where are they located? Do you use them as your one stop shop?

Well I work just west of Compton, so I am not that far from either of those places. Thanks again. I'll probably call each of em and see which one I like better.

Take it to DentWerks, they have some of the Ex-Lotus Beverly Hills Techs (Stephen & Allen) doing all that you are asking in house at their shop. They are completely a one stop shop for Lotus in Los Angeles. I think I linked their info to you in your post about stripes, give them a call and ask for Julio or Kevin.

If you're in the South Bay, Qais (pronounced Kise) has his own shop on Rosecrans borderline Redondo Beach/Lawndale or Torrance.

Qais was a Lotus Tech for formerly Lotus of South Bay and although he still works for the company that owned LSB, he has his own shop and retained many of his Lotus clients whom also track cars.

This is his cell number (310)200-0022 and tell him Abe sent you

I have heard of Qais before. Awesome! I feel taken care of, thanks everyone. Between Qais and DentWerks I think i can find a good local shop to handle my needs.

I haven't been to the track in about a year, and its killing me, the Lotus was a "Get back to the track now jerk off" gift to myself, and I plan on induldging heavily on the 'track crack' (once my car shows up and checks out that is)

That is indeed the Tripoint being referred to. They actually do a good bit of work on some lotuses as well as helping design one of the first supercharger kits for them. Good to see another lotus that will be joining with the rest of us track junkies.

Sweet, now I have all sorts of options, awesome.

Yep, I am ready to get back to the track. Figure a couple of weeks of prepping the car to make sure it is in tip top shape for the track, and then a minimum of 1 day a month, hopefully more if time permits!

So I talked to Stephan at DentWerks, and also Qais, and both of those guys are awesome. They both seem really knowledgeable and extremely competent. But I can't decide which one to go to. If you have had dealings with both guys and have an opinion, please let me know.

If you don't feel comfortable saying on the forum you can always PM me. I like both guys, and just need a little guidance as to which one I should go to and make my long term mechanic.

Thanks again guys!
