I'm planning on moving there soon. Is it true Kauai does not need reconstruction permits?

Kauai peep..
I expect to get a job offer next week. If number looks good I might be on the way over for a year or longer.
Looking for feedbacks on what kind of driving adventures you get to do on the island . I'm not sure if it is worth it to bring my elise . I normally do spirited drives here in San Diego . 60 to 120 miles loop on back mtn roads .
I hate to bring it over end up doing cruise runs. I can pick a better ride for that. A jeep or truck.

I'll be located on the west side. PMrF barking sands

Thanks

Basically the long drive you'll end up doing will be from Polihale state park to Waimea Canyon and then to Kee state beach park thru Princeville. You can't take the Elise to Polihale as the roads are unpaved and have large potholes and tire ruts. Rental cars take a lot of beating even the SUV's? Barking sands area was always dry and Princeville area was the wettest when I have been there vacationing. I always look for job when I am over there and have no luck.
Hopefully the locals could shed more light on driving adventures.

A Lotus is pretty much useless on Kauai, as you will miss the best parts of the Island. Store it or sell it, and get a nice 4x4.

my
sentiments also, but hesitant to sell and three years later nt be able to find a nice replacement.. hate to see it sitting around also.. i guess can factor in storage, insurance , depreciation cost vs cost of replacement down the road. ..

240or 260's might become better deals down the road.. ( not holding my breath on that one.)

also considering to just pick up a reasonably sorted Miata to beat up..

..

Ill definitely miss the tight handling of this cars which i routinely do for therapeutic stress reliever..

A 4x4 like the Wrangler would be a good choice and best that you bring it with you. Locals have purchased their vehicle here in the mainland and have it shipped to the island to save some money. You'll see alot Wranglers as they are the common rentals. A lot of Tacomas too for the locals.
