Who Has Lower Seat Rails?

was wondering if any poster knows anybody that is not too far from me that has the Lower Seat Rails installed in their Elise? i would sure like to check one out to see how much of a difference it makes as far as the headroom goes.

and FYI, i am located in southern Indiana.

I'm not located near Indiana, but this is a previous post I made on the subject:

I'm 6'1", long waisted. My helmet tapped the tent poles of my soft top. So I put in the TALLrails kit from Sector111. Head clearance was great, but my left knee was so close to the steering column that the legs straight out feeling was gone. A lot less comfortable. I had to swing my left knee to the left a few inches to clutch.
Kirt at Hypersport pulled the seat, redrilled the rails and moved the whole seat directly rearwards 2+ inches. Awesome now. Really fits. Line of vision is lower, just feels "racier" too.
Oh yeah, that kit is not quick or easy to install, but worth it.

I think I gained more than 2 inches of headroom, and could have gained more. The seat angle can be adjusted, I kept mine with about as little angle change as possible to try and keep my knees form the dash.

First, you really didn't need to start a new thread for this. You could have just bumped your other thread Seat Lowering Kit with the question.

Second, since you started a new thread anyway, it seems that you would have a better response if you posted it in the appropriate midwest forum instead of the general lotus discussion forum Michigan, Ohio, Indiana Region - LotusTalk - The Lotus Cars Community or Midwest Region - LotusTalk - The Lotus Cars Community

It gave me at least 2 inches, but your right, you should probably check it out. I have a hard time with my head hitting the roof. It excludes lots of cars.

Buy a 2-Eleven.

I'm perplexed because I know of 6'2-6'4 people who own Exiges (that means their tops are always on) and have no problem. I even know of a 70 something year old man with an Elise, same height and NEVER takes the hard top off.

Many people get confused at this because they think people are all built the same. I'm 6'2", but my inseam is only 32". I'm all torso and neck. So, there are a lot of cars I can't drive, particularly if I'm going to have a helmet on. Being taller doesn't just mean your legs are longer.

if anybody knows of anyone, and they are not a forum member, contact them and see if they will work with me on this.

Well, you have to remember it's somewhat of a rare car. Maybe if you lived in San Diego, you'd have better luck. Then, you'd be lucky if 2% of the owners have installed the lowering kit. If you really want to sit in one that badly, expand your distance and drive a few hours to go see one. Some people here are 4-6 hours or more away from their dealer....and you're looking for someone with a not-so-common accessory. Have you contacted Sector111 to see if they might pass your name along to an owner close to you?

Which tells you something about fitting in the car. There are plenty of tall owners. If people really didn't fit, Sector111 would have sold a lot more of these and probably been able to refer you.

Every other car on the road down here is a Lotus. I feel like I'm in that Audi Q7 commercial...
