Club111 2005 Track Days - Buttonwillow

2005 California Track Days

The GGLC would like to work w/ Club111 on at least 2 Lotus Track Days at Buttonwillow (one spring, one fall) in 2005. However, before we leap into making a commitment with Buttonwillow we'd like to gauge the interest. Assume one date in March/April and another in October.

Who's interested? Spring? Fall? Both? Cost will be about $165-185 for Club111 (or GGLC) members.

Additionally, the tentative 2005 GGLC Track Day Calendar has at least 5-6 other dates at Thunderhill & Reno/Fernley. Not looking good for Laguna (45 days of track construction is planned).

Both dates for Buttonwillow sound good to me. For those not use to track-dates could you give a little primer on what's required , etc. Mild concern for spring the weather can be iffy. If it's early Oct wouldn't have any worries about rain.

Sorry to hear about Laguna, being a great track and in my backyard was looking forward to it.

I would be in for Buttonwillow, at least Fall, maybe Spring too if the car arrives in time. I'd like to have enough miles on the car first for break-in and familiarity. Pricing sounds fine.

How about Willow Springs? SOW should be home turf for the Elise.

I would definitely been interested in both (and even a third!)

Weekdays or Weekend?

Timeframes seem good. Maybe even turn the later one into a full on "West Coast Gathering" event. If it's a weekend, we could have a cruise day and a track day.

I'll do it, rain or shine

How about Willow? I know its a bit further than BW for you northerners, but its a fun fun track.

I'm interested in both (assuming of course that I have an Elise by then...)

Willow Springs would be very nice

Too bad about Laguna Seca, hopefully in 2006 we can do that one !

I'd be interested in the spring one, probably not the fall one.

I just looked up Buttonwillow cos I didn't know where it was.... Oh great, California. No use to me then. This country is too big!

Seriously, I'm not sure how it will be possible to run a real national club with everyone being so far apart. I guess it will end up with multiple local chapters, but then it's not really one club, it's lots of clubs. It's making me appreciate how in England you can arrange a national event and almost every single member can get there and home in a day, or at least we'd break up meets into North and South meaning most people would be no more than 3 hours away, so the turn out would be amazing. Drive for 3 hours and you are in a completely different environment - new accents, different weather, even different words for stuff. Drive for 3 hours in Texas and you're still in bloody Texas!

I'd be interested in both.

Larry, you probably want to prefer Buttonwillow over Laguna unless you have much track experience. There are significantly less immovable objects to hit at BW. Especially with wet track.

You can count me in for both

I would also like to do SOW. I was supposed to be doing a track day at SOW tomorrow (POC is doing a track day) but I will be in London so I can't make it.

Thanks to all that posted.

I'm going to share this info with John Zender who chairs the GGLC Track Days. Armed with this info he'll work on getting spring & fall dates at Buttonwillow!

The GGLC will announcing it's 2005 Lotus Track Day calendar shortly. It will be a VERY FULL calendar with 6-7 dates from March - October.

See ya the Track!
