NOW AVAILABLE; Alarm/Immobilizer/CDL Emergency Overide

Trying to get an idea as to interest and demand before I produce.
As some of us have unfortunately found out, that if the car is locked with the alarm wireless remote, it can’t then be opened with the key. If the wireless remote is lost, or should fail, because of low battery, a defect, or loss of synchronization or programming, the result is being locked out of the car and the inability to disarm the alarm / immobilizer.
I may be putting together a kit that will allow the capability of arming and disarming of the alarm / immobilizer, including the unlocking of the doors, all from the outside of the car without using a operating wireless remote.
An additional benefit is that should you gain entry without disarming the alarm / immobilizer and the system goes into an alarm condition with the siren sounding and the lights flashing, there is no need to try to remember and enter the PIN to turn off the alarm, instead, simply use this new device.

I'm sure the DD people would be quite interested ! I almost never use my alarm, as I am usually by my car when I'm out....other than that, I'd go for it.

Here is some more details on this project

To address this problem I have an OEM integrated system kit that will allow the capability of arming and disarming of the alarm / immobilizer, including the unlocking of the doors, all from the outside of the car without using a operating wireless remote.
An additional benefit is that should you gain entry without disarming the alarm / immobilizer and the system goes into an alarm condition with the siren sounding and the lights flashing, there is no need to try to remember and enter the PIN to turn off the alarm, instead, simply use this new device.
The basis of the system is a small coded electronic key that attaches to your key ring and a receptacle that would be mounted externally in a location that makes it almost undetectable.
On the Elise there are no permanent modifications or drilling to the car necessary. The installation would entail, easy mounting of the receptacle, and routing of just two wires, one to the alarm module and one locally to ground. I have simplified the routing of the single wire from the alarm module so that virtually no disassembly is required. Location of the receptacle on Elise models is on the exterior of the car adjacent to the center brake light, under the rear window overhang where it is concealed. On the Exige models that have it, the mounting would be inside the rectangular hole above the license plate. A tiny hole, for wiring, would have to be drilled in the trunk floor corresponding to the other side of the hole. On Exige models without the rectangular hole it is up to the individual owner where the receptacle is mounted. All components, including 1 Touch Key & 1 Receptacle in a water tight enclosure, wiring, connectors and detailed instructions are supplied; you need only to supply some silicone adhesive.
The kit includes OEM Cobra components that were developed to be integrated into the Cobra 8186 that is used in all 2005 to 2007 Elise and Exige models. This system is totally secure, as each key is electronically coded to your car's system, just like the wireless remote. A key from another person's car will not work on yours. Lotus decided not to include the touch key, however I believe this is very desirable feature to have.
I am endeavoring to keep the price below $100, at least for the initial introduction, which should be soon.

I've been helping The Viper with some of the detail information needed to get this upgrade rolling and this is a really great product. The best part is that these are genuine OEM Cobra alarm parts and the touch key is coded to your car just like the standard remotes, so it is secure from anyone else trying to use their touch key to try to gain entry to your car. Lotus should have installed this part of the Cobra alarm right from the factory and I can't wait for these to go on sale so I can upgrade my alarm.

Yeah. My alarm goes off so I have been manually locking the doors so the alarm does not arm.

One wire from the alarm module to the outside of the rear window. Wire is hidden under trim panels. One ground wire terminated inches from the receptacle. Programming is as simple as first entering your PIN and then inserting the key into the receptacle.

Because in addition to unlocking the doors, it can be used to disarm the alarm and immobilizer without a PIN, all from outside of the vehicle, the alarm will not go off. Additionally, the car doors can be locked manually with the car key, while still arming the alarm /immobilizer, an option which is not available normally.

Definitely interested. Hard to tell from the pictures--what is the size of the electronic key, especially thickness?

The diameter of the enclosure that the receptacle is in measures 1-1/8" and the depth is 1-1/4". Here is a photo of the completed installation.
