Another strange cable near the battery

Sorry to bother you again, but as the Lotus is just a big box with a lot of surprises... we have found another cable besides the battery, it seems to be waiting for a connection, but which one (the ultimate upgrade to 400 HP? )

Thanks for your help

The Euro rear fog light wire is part of the big connector for the tail lights as described here:
Fog light circut added

I thought the conclusion was that this loose connector you show is for the third brake light on the Exige...

I can't see the photo (blocked here at work), but the Elise and Exige share the same wiring harness in the rear. For the Elise, the CHMSL (Center High Mounted Stop Light - aka Third Brake Light) harness plugs in behind the battery and runs up the body to the top of the rear window - the other plug toward the rear of the car is left un-used. On the Exige, the plug behind the battery is left un-used and the one in the rear of the car is connected to the CHMSL.

Originally, it was thought that the connector in the rear of the Elise was for the European rear fog light, but that is not installed on our cars.
