I loosened up one of the license plate lights and slid the wire up through there.

ahh will give that a try... is there a specific hole in the boot you used?

I tried pulling off the butt plate but I forgot to bring all my metric wrenches so will have to wait till I go home

Monsi, I just finished installing a Boyo VTL420 and a 3.5 inch monitor in my Exige.

After searching / reviewing all the postings (there are many) about back-up cameras, I chose to do the following:

- I drilled a 1/4 inch hole in the trunk floor, about 1 inch away from the back seam) above the rectangular opening above the license plate area. I installed a rubber grommet and pulled the camera wire through it. The wire is routed along the trunl heading toward the battery area.

- I drilled another 1/4 hole in between the battery cable grommet and rear lights harness grommet, located at the front driver's side of the trunk. Again, I installed a grommet there and pulled the camera wire through that hole into the engine bay.

- From there, I routed the wire (with ties) under the airbox , to the driver's corner of the firewall, down and across to the center, and routed the wire through the shifter cable opening / channel.

- I ran the wire under the center console, up through the floor divider, around the back of the passnger footwell and into the passenger side dash panel (below the vent). There, I connected the camera wires up to the monitor wires, protected them wire convoluted wire covering, tucked the bundle into the dash area, and closed up the panel.

- I removed the mirror (had a S111 Micro Mirror) and installed the monitor in its place. The monitor cable, between the dash and monitor, is held in place by tucking the cable into the header just behind the windshield and crevice where the windshield meets the A-pillar.

- I wired the camera so it is always on 100% of the time.

- Total parts = $160.

- Install looks factory.

This is the opening above the license, plate. Simply, drill a small hole through and you are in the trunk, just be careful to avoid the wires.

1) Insulate the cockpit from Solar (3M Crystalline Tint) & Convected (insulate sills) heat.
2) Replace evaporator thermostat with an upgraded electronic version to prevent freeze up.
3) Increase airflow into cockpit by removing both driver & passenger side footwell intake panels & blocking 2 outside air intakes in nose.

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud. After a while, you realise the pig is enjoying it.

Careful Monsi...if you can't get this one, we are going to have to revoke your Lotus Owner Card.

Kidding aside, good luck. I've gotta install one myself soon. Getting tired of trying to get out of parking spaces blind.
