battery ?
I'm not at home right now so I can't check on my car but I was reading the forum and came acroosss a discussion about battery and saw a picture of where the battery is located. When i first pick up the Elise I remember going to the trunk and moved a square plastic box around, at first I thought it was the battery but decided it can't be because I could move it.
So after seeing pictures, that's definitely the battery, now I'm alittle concern. I want to know if everyone's battery is mounted down or is it normal that you can physically tilt it around with not much strength? thanks |

It is not normal that it can be physically moved. It is held by a retaining clamp ....secured with an allen bolt. Lift the carpet, thereby exposing the clamp and bolt. Loosen the bolt with the large allen wrench from the Lotus toolkit, which will allow you to move the clamping bracket against the battery. Retighten the retaining bolt using the supplied allen wrench.

That is not the battery, that is just a cover that goes around, presumably to stop something from potentially (no pun) shorting it out. And then it also holds your owner manual. It snaps to the clam.
Now if you have removed the cover, then the more solid hunk under it is the battery. If that is the thing you are saying is loose, then it should be tightened, it is bad to have it loose.

Usually when the battery is moving, you know it, because it is significantly heavier than the cover itself. But it only takes a few seconds to remove the cover, so it will be good for your peace of mind. Once that is done, you can secure the cover by buttoning the carpet through the two holes provided.
