Here's how I mounted my voltphreaks 4.5lb battery. I used a piece of 1/8"x1" aluminum bent it to fit the battery and bolted it to the bracket that holds the A/C hoses using the original screws. To make sure the battery does not slip I cut a slot in the tabs of its case for the aluminum to fit into. Its kind of overkill but its not going anywhere now

The only reservation I have is that some people with the tilting clam left off the gas overfill tube and cup (I didn't, but it's not glued onto the clam any more though) when they re-assembled everything. The thought of gas sloshing out and over the battery is kinda scary.

Yeah I thought the same thing. I left the cup on, but it doesn't seal except by friction now, so I am careful on fill-ups. Having the battery that close to the fuel tank in general is probably not optimal, but I think the added risk is pretty small. These cars go up in flames easily for lots of reasons so a fire extinguisher is probably a good idea.

Well done Eric!

I also thought about the gas issue... but then I thought that would be some pretty bad luck if I just happen to flood a bunch of gas on the battery and it just happen to be shorting out at the same time to create a spark to ignite the fuel... I figure there's a better chance of setting off the fuel tank with static electricity So I proceeded without any concerns and really enjoy the new location

Best,

Phil
