Battery Tender

I am going to buy a Battery Tender, has anybody used one of these?

Any recommendations would be helpful.

Buy this one: Batterytender.com - Home of All Your Charging Needs Battery Tender Junior - 12V @ 0.75A and for convenience get the cigarrette lighter adapter (which I don't see listed on that site).

If you are looking to upgrade to a "smart" battery charger, they have a "maintainer" mode built in, just a thought.

you might also want to consider the Battery MindR
which has a conditioning feature to it.

BatteryMINDer Plus 12 Volt 1.3 Amp Battery Charger: BatteryMart.com

Regardless of which you get, .. both will work with the same Cig Lighter adapter
-which can be a lot more convenient than connecting directly to the battery in the trunk.

12 Volt Cigarette Plug Adapter: BatteryMart.com

there is also the Battery Tender Plus.

I have the Battery Tender Plus and Battery Tender Jr. What I notice is that the Plus gets the battery to max capacity faster. They both work great and have been flawless.

The Minder looks great too. If I need a 3rd one I'll pick that one up.

Had good luck with the standard Battery Tender, don't know about the "Junior". Do NOT use the Chinese copies available from Harbor Freight, etc., they do not work. Also the Schumacher battery maintainer works poorly and I would avoid it, it seems to have difficulty determining the battery's level of charge...Dave

I've used the Tender Jr for over 3 years now via the cig lighter and it works great. The .75A is more than enough to maintain the battery, even here in cold Ohio.

I am a little puzzled regarding the Cigarette lighter socket. The socket has no power to it once the ignition is turned off. So how does pluging the Battery Minder into that work?

Am I missing something here?

It is always hot, even with the ignition off.

If its always hot then why does the lighter socket not work when the ign is off ?

I pluged my car charger in when the ign is on and it works fine turn off the ign and the light goes out.

Please define HOT

Maybe it's different on the '07? I too used to think mine switched off when the ignition was off, but was wrong. On the '05 and '06 Lotus it is definitely "always on".
