The best battery?
My ODYSSEY PC680 is at the end of it's life, I assme it has 3 years or more in the Elise. If I leave the Elise for two days, the car needs a jump to start. I've invested in a battery tender and that seems to work now, but I need another battery soon.
Is the Odyssey PC680 the best for replacement? It was $159 from Battery Plus Stores. When I replace it, will I go through problems with the alarm/immobilizer/key fobs? Or it will be easy by connecting the old, connect the new and it's ready to go? Thanks --Hal

I was in a local race car shop and was asking about the batteries they used in their race cars and they turned me on to the Genesis EP. Genesis EP is the Industrial/military version of the Oddessy (Oddessy and Genesis are both made by Enersys) and weighs 13.5 lbs, 2 lbs lighter than the Oddessy. I have had one now for about 8 months with no issues. Battery Store/TNR Technical/TNR Batteries, your Extreme Batteries Source has these for $95.00 on the website. The one thing is they like a charge of 13 to 14 volts from the battery tenders not a 12 volt charge.
Genesis EP G12V16AH10EP Part # G16EP 0769-2007 width = 7.15 height =3.00 depth = 6.60 lbs = 13.5

I highly recommend this
New Sealed Battery Option - Cheaper, Better! Same size as the PC680 but considerably more reserve. My PC680 would last 10 days or less without use before being unable to start the car. This new battery has gone 3.5 weeks (and could probably go longer) and zero issues. |
