Blower motor remove?

I am having problems with the blower motor not working. I assume it has had water injested and has corroded the resistor and or the motor itself.

I tried to access the motor and resistor from the top cover on both sides and can't see it.

Will the front clam have to come off? (grrrrrrr) or is there another way to get at it?

Remove the front clam, then it comes right out with just a few fasteners.
No other way, clam must be removed
I have plenty of motors if you need one.

remove clam
remove heater, a/c box
remove blower motor
resistor is on the bottom of the fan

Dont just replace this resistor. there is an update kit to relocate the resistor so this doesnt happen again (A120P0148S). the kit is in the $200 range. the fan usually doesnt have to be replaced. you might have to cut the orange wire and put a new terminal on, but that is easy. The job is easy the 2nd time, the first one is a bit of a b$tch.

let me now if you have more questions,
T.J.

If you only use "OFF" and the highest speed "#3" position, like me, it can be direct wired without the resistors.
Cheers,
Michael

I wish you would have said that before I did the whole resistor replacement thing. What a P.I.T.A.

Simply connect the Green/Yellow wire from the fan switch #3 position to the red wire that goes into the blower.

You would still have to remove the clam and HVAC components. Just saves the cost of a Resistor Pack that is always prone to break again.

Ok, I've been reading a bit and have seen some people access the resistor with the clam on. Now I couldn't tell if these were from people from europe with RHD models or if it is possible to get it it from the pass side access panel. I just reeeeeaaaaallllly don't want to take the clam off and waste a whole saturday if there is any way around it.

With the U.S. model and AC the clam has to be removed.
