Cobra Window Closure Module

Putting out a feeler for Cobra Window Closure Modules that are intended to be used with the Cobra 8186 that is installed on all Elise & Exige models from 2005 to 2007. Upon pressing the large remote button "A" to arm the alarm the windows will close.

It is not inexpensive at $159 shipped.

Not a problem. I'm use to more expensive parts when it comes to my cars.

Can I put you down for one, because I will have to special order them on my next shipment from Cobra.

Well I would like to see the specs for the unit first. Size & circuitry used. Because if it is a simple relay triggered by the control module, I rather go to radio shack.

I'd be interested after a couple folks try it and get everything working. I have no clue where the alarm unit is or how to get to it. Would be an excellent feature though!

So it simply takes the signal from the brown wire from the alarm brain.

I think I will pass and make my own module and then wire an emergency window lowering switch in case the alarm craps out or the CDL module dies.

Hint: No Touring Package - hence no power windows.

Yes, but with a minor addition and wire routing change. You will connect the power wire from the module, instead of to the power window controller, to your daughter who will need to remain inside of the car. When jolted she will then roll up the windows. If she doesn't, jolt her again.

Tim, yes, I can supply a rotary servo motor that fits over the wind up handle, it only projects 10" into the car

Good luck with this, Michael. It seems like a really nice upgrade to have for the power windowed cars...should have come like this from the factory. I'm sure that you'll have a lot of interest.

Michael, you've been THE man for quite a while. Keep up the good work.

Actually, finding/selling/making the power window module available is a good thing. I remember way back when I first got the Elise (five years ago?) and someone posted the links to the manuals, it was discovered that the modules were theoretically available. I thought at the time that they would be a great addition to those cars with power windows. But that's as far as I (or anyone else) went with the thought. Actually going to all the trouble to do it and make them available is a big step. It is a very good thing. Keep up the good work!

Tim, thank you for you kind words
I actually believe that the other missing option....the "Touch Key" is even more valuable to Lotus owners because of the "quirky" system where the key does not work if you use the remote/fob to lock the car.
Cheers,
Michael

Michael,

Add a switch to the closure module that will roll the driver's window down when the CDL failure occurs and I'd be very interested.

I have a very inexpensive way to overcome a CDL failure which I intended to introduce shortly .
