Why would Lotus have different versions? The "add-on" driving lights are a factory kit - it plugs into the existing harnesses, and uses the existing circuits.

There's another post of his where he is just as certain, with more details.
Not only am I sure, I've tested it with my multi-meter/continuity tester. The factory fog light switch is a "click on", "click off" switch - it is not momentary.

The driving light switch "remembers" it's setting between ignition on/off/on cycles, unlike others.

I guess I'm going to have to take photos of it connected up to the multi-meter to show...

Yesterday when I used the parking light switch (the uppermost switch in the panel) and plugged it into the for light harness I got a steady 12V on that pin on the connector in the trunk.
So that switch must then be identical with the fog light switch (momentary)?

Ok - I'll take pictures in 3h!

Reading all your posts I'm sure that I was wrong about the on/off switch!

Okay, I can't find and pins small enough to stick into the switch connector and connect my Fluke to it, but here are two photos (the second one isn't completely in focus). The first photo is the button "sticking out" in the off position. The second photo is the button after it has been pushed, and is in the on position ("sticking in"). The momentary switches don't "stick in".

Good enough. What color is the LED?

I can't help myself but to ask the question:
How do you know all those details about Lotus?
And are you taking your car apart to take pictures every time someone asks a question? Or do you have all that stuff (like the switches) just laying around in your garage?
Maybe this was discussed before and I missed it
Anyways, your information and dedication to answer any question is highly appreciated

Tim Mullen knows a *tremendous* amount about Lotus cars. He is always willing to help and give advice ...... and a for touring wheels.

Anyway.... I just came back from the Lotus.

I do have an US 2007 Exige S (May 2007) build date!
(no fog lights)

I have measured all the buttons I could lay my hands on
and they ALL are momentary - much to my surprise . I have tested it with a multimeter. Also, all feel the same way when depressed.

They all have THREE wires coming from the switch to the connector - except for the traction control one - that has FOUR.

The connector has SEVEN slots for pins. The one from the button does NOT have any pins, so that would make it female.

Here is the list - the names are mostly from the labels attached to the harness:
  1. The traction control button (amber LED) has a four wires: green, yellow ( adjacent pins) and black, blue. The Black/Blue is the switch.
  2. AC: Color: Blue Wires Red(LED) Blk/Green and blue (the switch; I do not know what is ground for the LED)
  3. Re-Circulation: Color: Blue Wires Red(LED) Blk/Green and blue (the switch; I do not know what is ground for the LED)
  4. Side Lamp (TOP button): Color: Green Wires: Red(LED) Blk/Green and blue (the switch; I do not know what is ground for the LED)
  5. Head Lamp (MIDDLE button): Color: Green Wires: Red(LED) Blk/Green and blue (the switch; I do not know what is ground for the LED)
  6. Rear Fog Lamp (BOTTOM button): Color: Amber Wires: Yellow/Black, Blue Red. I think Yellow/Blue is the switch

You can use an AC or recirc button as the side lamp or the head lamp switch! I have tried this out!

I think I tried to use the FOG LIGHT switch as a side or head lamp to NO AVAIL.

Also there is ONE UNUSED connector labeld "drive lamp"! Tim, do you know anything about that?

I think the switch that plugs into it is the on/off on.

Also the fog light does NOT seem to trigger the relay. The Head lamp does.

The trip reset button does NOT have a LED and I did not look at it!

I'll update my original post and put up some pictures I took (with my cell phone - my GF has my camera right now)

BTW apologies for my typos. I just can't type. Grrrrr

Well, I am an engineer...

Actually in this case, I happen to have the switch laying around. My car was one of the early ones that was not pre-wired for the driving light switch, so in my car, I did not use the switch or panel that came with the driving light kit. (No, they are not for sale, they are reserved for possible future projects - but there may be other people with early cars that have the spare parts.)

That is probably for the driving lights - again, my car was not wired for that, so I didn't even have to take the panel off (and I wouldn't have had the connector there if I did). Later cars have a connector behind the light switch panel that the driving light switch plugs into - probably the one that you discovered.

I don't know. It's "clear" without power applied - apparently it's blue when used properly: Driving Lights Don't Work - Help Please

Hopefully somebody can help me solve this riddle...
I asked Lotusgarage which parts I need to add rear fog lights:
1. Switch, rear fog lamp, yellow tell-tale A117M0056F
2. Decal rear fog lamp graphic A117M0046F
3. Switch panel (3 switch) A121U0091F
4. The rear lamps

I have a 2006 Elise with the LEDs. I thought the fog lights are already in the LED rear lights, only the US Wiring does not activate the fog lights.
If that's the case, I won't need to buy the rear lamps themselves which by far are the most expensive parts.
Can anybody confirm that the fog lights are already in the 2006 LED rear lights so I'll only order items 1-3.

thanks!

Has anybody completed this alternative solution or know if this is possible:
1. Buy the switch etc.
2. Take out one of the white reverse lights (in the inner rear lights) because one s/b enough.
3. Then replace the removed reverse light with a rear fog light (I think EU Elise also have the fog light I one of the inner lights, I'll try to look it up).
4. Connect this rear fog light with the switch (might need a connector? Ballast?)
Voila, working rear fog light.
Any thoughts?
