Gauges reading high - speedo and tach

So, has anyone come across this? When I start the car, the speedo jumps to 20 mph and the tach jumps to 3k rpm - while sitting there stationary, idling at normal rpm. The discrepancy seems linear - when I drive at 40-ish it reads 60-ish.

Any ideas if this a 'just pull the fuse and reset it' type deal (and if so, recommendations for the reset). Or is this L.O.T.U.S., or worse, FUBAR?

As a side note, it is pretty cool to see the tach spool up to 10k!

There's a procedure in the manual for resetting the needles. Some have reported that it doesn't always work, or at least on the first attempt.

The car looks so fast that the Gauges think that it is moving.

It worked, on the second attempt. I honestly didn't expect to find this one in the manual.

Thanks.

That's scary it's in the manual. Must be a problem.

Not a problem, just the procedure to reset the zero point on the electronic scales that control the instruments. But a few people have had to do the reset proceedure...

Sounds to me like his needle weights fell off.
