SWEET! So I lost my 1 and only fob. Other got lost in shipping and was at the dealership. I get the spare, go out to my car, hit the button... nothing.. UGH. i've been without my key a week so i'm a little depressed. come back from work today and find this thread. WORKS LIKE A CHARM! I run inside, grab my favorite lotus hat and guess whats been hiding IN the hat.. the missing set. (I'd looked under the had 5 times looking for the keys)

Well I reprogram them both and I'm happy now. Thanks again!

OK, tell me if this is a stupid question and I just didn't do the right search -- but how do you enter the PIN? I haven't had to do this yet but am worried that my time is coming. Looked over as many threads as I can find and looked at the manual. It all makes sense until I get to the part about entering the PIN. how do I do that?

If you have the 4 digit PIN code that came with the car then it is a matter of turning the ignition key off and on, then counting the number of flashes from the light on the tach. When the number of flashes equals the first number in the pin you turn the key off. Repeat for each number in the pin. This is also a way to disable the alarm if you do not have the fob.

Grazie mille. I hope this sounds more tedious than it is.

Hi!
I'm also trying to program an extra key fob to my car, I hav been following the instructions as described here but I have not been successful.
I have been experiencing a couple of different cases.

1. After counting the number of flashes for the first pin digit and turning the ignition off and on again, it stops flashing(it does not come on even if I wait a while either)

2. After turning the ignition off and on again after counting the number of flashes for the last digit the lights just continue flashing(it has been flashing continously through the whole procedure, also when the ignition was off)

Any idea of what I am doing wrong? it must be something

The alarm has also been going off quite a few times while I have been attempting to follow the procedure.

I have another wrinkle to this process..... I purchased a car that had no history of the PIN number. Consequently I am praying that the system continues to function correctly .. and my fragile little watch battery doesn't give up the ghost! Has anybody ever managed to obtain their PIN code from ....(?) somewhere? Can a dealer trace the code from your VIN? Please don't run out of juice .. please don't run out of juice .. please ........

Your dealer should be able to give you the code.
Beside running out of battery, don't drop the key fob. When I dropped mine, battery got dislodged and I had to reprogram.

Have you waited until the alarm is activated before trying? (Hope you have solved this by now though!!!)

Any dealer will be able to get the codes from Lotus based on the VIN. You need to ask a dealer because Lotus will only supply the PIN info back to a dealer (for obvious security reasons). They may charge you for this though (in Australia they charge $15).

Hey azskycop, YOU ROCK!!!
We lost a key and fob, bought 3 fobs and tried the Book directions etc... To no avail...

Got online, read your post and hit it on the first try!!! FYI (everybody else), I did shut the ignition off as the last light of each code number illuminated. Can't thank you enough. Glad somebody got it right, and it wasn't whomever wrote the original directions w/ the car. Now with 4 fobs total, I should be good for a while
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

Anyone know if the alarm system locks out after several attempts to enter the security code?

I'm trying mine and now the tach light does not come on when I cycle the ignition 3 times.

It does not lock out, but if you make an entry mistake you must wait 10 seconds with the ignition off before you try again.

1) Insulate the cockpit from Solar (3M Crystalline Tint) & Convected (insulate sills) heat.
2) Replace evaporator thermostat with an upgraded electronic version to prevent freeze up.
3) Increase airflow into cockpit by removing both driver & passenger side footwell intake panels & blocking 2 outside air intakes in nose.
