Question ...hyperactive turn signal...

...on my way home from work tonight, my right turn signal blinked at three or four times the normal rate while my left turn signal continued to operate normally...

...when i got home, i tested a host of light combinations, hazards, brights, engine on/off, interior light on/off, and the problem persists - while my left turn signal and all my hazard lights operate normally, my right turn signal flashes at a very high rate...any ideas?..

Or a poor electrical connection somewhere in the right signal circuit. If the bulbs are working, check to make sure their bases are tight to their sockets and there is no corrosion. Check all the wiring connections to the light assemblies as well as all the ground connections for good contact and a lack of corrosion too.

...i did get some water splashed up inside the right turn signal housing about a month and a half ago - i'll have to check carefully...

Have you done any work in the car recently that could have affected the turn signal/hazard circuits? For example, removing the center console.

Had the same issue when my LED's were installed. Turned out to be a loose connection in the trunk to one of the rear lights.

...it was indeed surface corrosion between the bulb and its socket, likely condensation from when water got inside my turn signal housing...

...having disassembled the lot, i can't quite work out where water got into there...there's a crack along the upper lens, so possibly it slowly dripped through during heavy rains, but it's a very tight fracture with no visible gap...

...now i'm left with a dull mirror where water pooled at the base of the the lens assembly - is there any viable technique for opening the lens housing to polish/rechrome the dull bit and possibly seal the crack from inside?..
