It Started...Now What? MIL

Thanks for all the help so far. After no success with the Jump Start, I took the battery out and got it fully charged. Re-installed and properly secured, I'm back in business. The car started right up.

However....The Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp is now on. It is a solid lamp (not flashing), which according to the book appears to mean I have an emissions problem. In addition to trying to jump start, I also tried two roll starts, which didn't work. I'm wondering if that is the cause of the problem? Guess I'll be taking it in this week, but thought I would ask if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks again,
Will

You need to read that code. If you don't have a OBD II reader, most autoparts stores will let use theirs. Socket is under the dash shelf in the approx. center.

Seriously. Jump a manual? I have never done that. Why not just pop the clutch?

Glad to hear you got it working. The MIL is probably due to the fact that you tried push-starting it. Just a guess.

Doing so supposedly can damage the catalytic converter, which is probably why I think he got a code.

Took it in to shop today. Funny thing is (Murphy's law), the CEL light was off when I started it up this morning (figures). Shop was going to read the codes. Will let you know what I find out.

As always...thanks for all the help.

Battery checked out OK. CEL (MIL) code was P0601. They reflashed my ECM and all appears OK.

Owners Manual says go under access panel

Hey Will -

Havent had to jump my 07 Exige S yet, but owners manual says only jump using terminals under the access panel up front. Should start right up then.

Let us know how it goes ok?

Any detailed description on what the "watchdog" code actually means? I just had a battery go down and when I charged it and put it back in the car I gor that code. I reset the ECU and all is good.
