key fobs out of juice -- near miss

Folks report they did not need to resync when changing batteries.

I did it to both key fobs because one key fob did not work despite the fresh battery. It was the non-functioning key fob, which failed over 2 years ago, probably because I fat-fingered the switches in a fit of confusion. I am happy to have both functioning again --without reprogramming.

Actually, I routinely remove recently deadened (is that a word??) batteries and replace them, and it seems to often work for one last gasp discharge (maybe two) - don't rub them on my shirt, tho. Don't know why it works, but it does. I can think of household items that I do this with when they run out - TV remote, nose-hair clippers (yes, I said that), cell phone, etc. With the traditional cylindrical, alkaline batteries, rotating them in place along their long axis, or changing the order of them in a multi-battery device, allows for a few additional discharges.

It would be interesting to hear what a battery expert might have to say about this.

Now that you mention it, I have also had luck with rotating in place. Never gave it a thought before this. Imagined that I was just scraping the contacts clean.

Transfer of static charge or tribocharging ideas still look good to me.
