LOTUS DRIVING LIGHTS: VITAL!

the lotus driving lights are a real good option.
country roads need a better than original illumination.
i can't praise them enough, especially now that the darkness comes so early.
i needed to replace my grille, and, on a lark, i added the lights.
compared to the lighting without, there's no question that they're great.
the light kit includes the correct grille and all the hardware needed to add them.
they come on with the high beams instead of the low beams.

Nice. Where did you get the kit and for how much? Complicated install?

Whoever owned my car before me wired them up to only come on with the high beams, while the button is depressed. So dumb.

Driving lights are only meant to operate in conjunction with the high beams. They focus in the same manner as the high beams. If they come on with the low beams you would be blinding the oncoming driver

I think he means that he has to physically hold the button down for the driving lights to stay on. That would tick me off.

They focus in the same manner? Yuck? Please tell me they cast a wider angle of light.

Not sure if that is true, but if so, he has a defective relay. BTW, driving lights cast a narrow beam, fog lights cast a wide beam with a very sharp top cut off that does not reflect back into the drivers eyes.

i got mine from the lotus dealer in chicago, FVMC, i think. i've ordered much small stuff from them as well as a radiator. (prices are good, too.)
they are to come on only on high beam and the switch that was in the kit had a blue lamp in it and was a push-push on-off type.
my car is an '06 and had all the wiring already in it.
all the stuff to make a tidy installation was there.
good luck, sam

I'm not a big fan of the NJ DMV or inspection stations but I wouldn't mind seeing the inspection stations go back to checking headlight aiming like they did years ago.

No blue lamp nor button on my setup.

Just flick to high beam, all front lights go active.

Where is the blue lamp or button supposed to be mounted?

I'm with you there, misaimed headlights, and improper use of highbeams/foglights/etc piss me off almost as much as tailgaters.

It does seem to be a simple concept, doesn't it. Of course, Michael is - as usual- correct.

Moreover, I installed my 1st set of DLs in 1969. Didn't even bother with a separate switch and simply used a relay = when high beams are on, so are DLs.

Never once in the intervening years have I ever need the DLs w/o highs, or vice-versa.

Easier, cleaner install, too.

Parsons does cars every 2 yrs, vs 1 before; doesn't do trucks, busses, etc either. This was not a good plan. And, who couldn't have predicted the use of OBDII ports?? I wrote to whitman, she wanted none of it.

The kit comes with a new light switch panel that includes a third button below the original two. This one is for the driving lights and turns blue when on. Also, once you turn on the driving lights while the high-beams are on they will turn back on every time you go to the high-beams until you manually turn them off, which is nice.

this may be a dumb question....but I ask since I have found the low beams provide pretty bad lighting (maybe my eyes are just getting older)

what good would the DL's do if you cant turn them on with the Low Beams?

if your high beams are already on, you can see!! so you dont need additional lights?
