New Sealed Battery Option - Cheaper, Better!
BAB26-12***TEMPEST High Performance SEALED LEAD-ACID AGM BATTERY
Exactly the same size as Odyssey PC680 but 53% more reserve (26AH vs. 17AH) Cost is ONLY $86.00 - 47% cheaper (compared to $127 for the PC680) Fits perfectly with Sector111 Battery Bracket. I just installed one and it fired right up on my S. Last edited by qball : 09-25-2008 at 10:21 PM. |

15 lbs....not bad but my Voltphreaks battery weighs 4.5 lbs, is half the size and has worked flawlessly for almost a year now.

Unfortunately, in lead acid, LBS = AH capacity to first order. I really doubt they are really getting 52% more capacity in the same weight as a PC680. If you look at most LA batteries, they get 1AH per lb. This one is claiming 1.5AH per LB.
Not saying it won't work, I just don't think it's really 26AH, at least not when tested the same way the Odyssey or Braille batteries are. |

I just wanted to post an update.
I have had ZERO problems with this battery. If my Exige sits without use, it lasts about twice as long as the PC680 it replaced before I have to add a trickle charger. Starts like a champ. Extremely good bang for the buck! ![]() |

I may put one of these in my Elan. Does anyone have a source for the adapters that go from regular battery "post" ends to the screw ends that are on this battery?

SLA Battery Adapter Connectors Search for "Odyssey battery adapter" but be warned - the socket head cap screw in the adapter is captive under a threadsert so it might take a bit of fettling if the threads on the captive screw and the battery don't match up.

I dont drive my car that much. Can this battery qball mentioned last longer than the OEM battery? My concern is more on the longetivity, not weight. What's a few pound for me if I can't drive it after a week? I am skinny dude anyway, so it's already compensating, hahaha.

In your circumstances you need the largest capacity (AH) you can find.
See schedule in post #8. Michael Quote:

Hmm.. What's up with Voltphreaks?
Their LiFePo4 based batteries carries an insane price. VPH700 (14Ah) @ $1,220 ? Say they are using LiFePo4 1200mA cells, that's 40 cells combined. Each of these cells cost about $0.99 from my source, and that's proper quality with high discharge. Cheaper ones can be gotten for half that and less. What exactly is driving up the cost of these batteries? I mean.. c'mon.. under/overcharge prot. and discharge circuits cost? ;p Edit: http://www.valence.com/sites/all/the...ta%20Sheet.pdf 40Ah @ $890 incl. CANbus datamanager.
