OEM Battery

I purchased my Elise when it was one year old. I don't know if he battery in my car is the original as it is a 45 AH Exide, see below, what do you think?
I have seen some photo's of others battery's and they appear to be different.
Were different OEM batteries installed.

That's not what came in mine. I have a 2005 model. I had to replace my battery with a sealed version, because the OEM battery was leaking. I guess Lotus agreed with me, even though the dealership didn't.

If it craps out on you when the car itself is around 3 years old, it's OEM!

..tho that's not the battery that came with my 2005 model either.

Has anyone had one of these Exides, as shown above leak, or has it only been the more common nondescript black battery.

Viper, I have the same battery and was told by a tech that there haven't been any leaks from the grey battery that he or his dealership is aware of, just the black one. Even so, I check it regularly for any sign of leaking.

Thanks RoadDad, I was not sure if my grey Exide was installed new by Lotus or was replaced before I purchased the car, one year old. Seems, though, at least a couple, have this battery in their car from new. These batteries, also could have been replaced at the port of entry.

If there were different batteries in different models or years, which battery is the one that leaks?

Mine is an Exide, but it's got a gray body.

The black battery is made by Yuasa, BTW. I had one, it leaked, now have an Odyssey PC925.

This is the battery in my early 2005 Elise.

Last week it was weak from sitting. I put it on the trickle charge and all seems well, but I am probably close to a replacement. 3 1/2 years.

It's the black one that can leak.

What are the specs on the OEM battery? When I got my 05' the battery had already been replaced.
