Yes, now the question is... 8000K or 6000K

Are the 8000K even bluer than, say, BMW HID's? Those suckers are realllly blue...

Factory HIDs appear blue because of the reflector optics. The color temp of the actual bulb is 4300K. People use a colder color temp when retrofitting to try to mimic factory HIDs, but the do this with a compromise of diminished visibility (when compared to 4300K).

Chester

Those Ekological lights (or other HID) are really brighter than Elise factory lights or there are just blue?

How much brighter? Can you really tell the difference ((the brightness)) while driving at speed?

Cost pleaz?

I think everyone who has installed HIDs on their Elise would say that it's a night and day difference. I'm still waiting for Tim Mullen's foot to get better to hear his evaluation =) Each HID bulb of the 50watt kit puts out 4200 lumens. Many years ago I was at a garage that was doing headlight alignments and the machine gave a lumen output reading on the final report. I know my M3 with 35watt HIDs put out ~3200 lumens and the Ford Explorer with halogens was significantly lower...around 1000 lumens.

As for cost, if you have a '05/'06, it's $415. If you have a '07, it's $340. Add $10 shipping for either.

Regards,
Chester

Why not? I always use an impact wrench to take the lug bolts off and impact wrench w/ torque stick to put the bolts back on.

They are massively brighter. If you drive the Elise with any regularity at night I would recommend that you upgrade.
