Power Source for Boost Gauge

Does anyone know an "easy" power source for a boost gauge? One that doesn't cut out when cranking the engine. Thanks in advance.

But radio gets cut out when cranking the engine ya? I need a power source that doesn't as the Stack gauge I have recommends the use of a suitable power source so their "auto zeroing" feature will work. Otherwise, the gauge might not read accurately according to the installation instructions.

Can you run a wire all the way up from the battery? It might be one of the only ways to get a constant source of power

Depends what the voltage range it can drop too, you'll probably see as low as 6V at the battery on cranking too.

I also would like to know where i can get switched power with out a start drop out. I believe OP has a innovate product to measure boost.

Its not really possible without adding something to buffer it.

Oh well... mechanical gauges might be the better choice for our cars then...

i don't usually need to read the gauges when cranking the engine, but a simple capacitor will in all likelyhood fix it.

Another alternative is if you really want to get crazy is to give it its own small battery power supply Maybe that would work, don't know for sure.

1) Insulate the cockpit from Solar (3M Crystalline Tint) & Convected (insulate sills) heat.
2) Replace evaporator thermostat with an upgraded electronic version to prevent freeze up.
3) Increase airflow into cockpit by removing both driver & passenger side footwell intake panels & blocking 2 outside air intakes in nose.

If you need constant power, there's a distribution block under the dash that goes directly to the battery.

If you need switched, you can tap the ignition switch, though the best way to do it is to run a relay via a separate fuse that is switched by the ignition power.

I believe he is asking for a power supply that does not dip due to voltage drop during cranking rather than a unswitched source.

In that case you'll have to do a relay to the battery (or distribution junction) that is flipped by ignition power.

I do this on all my cars, and the Defi boost gauge in the Elise is quite happy with that arrangement.

It will dip slightly when the starter runs, no way around that short of rigging up a capacitor, but no gauge should be that picky.

It drops to about 6V, if theres a 12V to 5V regulator in the gauge, it'll probably power off/reset.
