You get what you pay for... I heard mixed reviews about the other batteries, that is why Odyssey was the choice for my car. It isn't worth getting stranded or having a spill. You can save $20 by going with a no-name battery, but why risk it?

I have a few battery brackets remaining, along with the cut-off switches and brand new PC680 batteries. Shipping today.

Do you still have some of these left? Can you ship to the UK? If so, any idea how much it would cost?

Cheers

Yes, I can ship to the UK. The motherland.

If you don't mind US Post, I can get it there for $20.

Excellent, will send the payment. Any idea how long US Post might take?

They usually say "7 to 10 days", which means, they have no idea!

I just installed the bracket with the BAB-26 battery. You need to bend the taps at the back of the bracket slightly out, otherwise it won't fit.

Also, the hole in the bottom of the bracket for the screw to attach it to the floor of the trunk didn't line up. I had to enlarge it. Not a big deal.

Finally you do need to keep the original black bracket that is attached against the side wall (tire well), otherwise the new bracket won't rotate as the instructions show to do when sliding the new battery in there. There are two rivets in the way that are covered up by the old (black) bracket.

I realize this sounds all kinda weird, but it'll be clear if you have the new bracket in your hands with the instructions.

All in all, great product!

It sounds like you didn't use the included two washers... the rivets protrude from the body of the car, so a washer is used to make it flat again for the bracket to attach. If you do that, it will work correctly.

As to the hole being the wrong size, that is the first time we have seen that. The brackets are LASER cut and there are close to 100 of them out there without problem. What year is your car?

The bracket is designed for the Odyssey PC680, it sounds like the Tempest will fit with a little tweaking. Maybe you could post a photo?

Just an FYI I also have a BAB-26 battery installed but used the sector 111 bracket (also made for Oddyssey PC680) and had to elongate the mounting hole.

Okay, I think that solves the riddle: the bracket works as intended on the PC680, the other battery will work by modifying the bracket.

FWIW; the bracket wasn't intended as a universal bracket, but glad to see it works.

i thought that tempest battery was the exact same size as the 680?i even looked at the web site and it listed the same dimensions.must be longer if you had to open up the hole going into the floor.+1 on the provided thick washers.they space the bracket off the two rivet heads.sounds like you got it to work though.

The bracket does not fit on the BAB-26 without slightly bending two taps at the back of the bracket. Thus the BAB-26 is slightly bigger than the PC680.

To Thomasio: I did use the two included washers. Even with the washer, the rivets were still in the way. They protrude out at least 2 washers in thickness, maybe more.

As for the hole being the wrong size. It wasn't actually the wrong size, it was in the wrong place. It had to be "moved" about half a hole over. This might be because I used the stock rear bracket (to overcome the two rivets).

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like they used *big* rivets the day they built your car. It's funny, I have never seen two Elises or Exiges that were exactly alike. Hethel seems to pull different parts depending on what is in the bin that particular day. Keeps things interesting!

Aye, it does keep things interesting :-) Most DIY projects run into some kind of unanticipated issue. Half the fun is solving those.

Kevin from NCI is with the West cars at Road America... check out some of his fabrication. These cars are 200 HP and weigh about 800 lbs, just over 900 lbs with driver!

Here is a video of the West (from Road Atlanta): West WX10 - Road Atlanta on Vimeo
