Wiring guru's, where to find the starter relay wire?

Hopefully someone knows the answer but I've just finished a compustar install but am stuck on the last wire which is for the remote start function. I have a negative pulse wire that needs to go to the starter relay but can't seem to find it. I tried going to the started button but both sides there seem to be hot so it looks like it just acts as a break. Does anyone know where I can find a ground seeking trigger line?

the starter relay is positive trigger... (can be found at immobilizar pin 12 also at the multifunction relay pack). if you need to have a negative trigger then you need to add a 30 A SPDT relay to convert it...

Thanks for the info Rob! In the end it didn't work out so easily so I had 2 change the setup a bit but in the end it's working!

yeah, the compustar can be a bit tricky on the elise... did you end up putting in neutral safety sensors for the remote start or did you use the goofy reservation mode?

I'm just using the reservation mode, didn't even know there's a neutral sensor available. That sounds a lot safer although the reservation mode does do it's job, that is until u want 2 something out of the car again after u lock it then it cancels itself.

oh yeah... ive been doing the neutral bypass since the 90's... astroflex actually made a special kit that had a set of positionable optical sensors but thats not even necessary. You can achieve the same result using a set of normally open magnetic switches (like the kind used in burglar alarms for doors) . you tap the handbrake switch and then series connect each switch and route the output to the 'start only when grounded' input. you glue the magnets to the shifter stalk and position the magnetic switches one on each side of the stalk. The end result is that the only config that will satisfy a start is shifter in neutral and parking brake up. if the brake is down the ground is removed and if the shifter is moved to any other position the magnets will move out of proximity with at least one of the two switches and also interrupt the ground.

The reservation mode is pretty good but its not foolproof, particularly with a car like the elise where the top can be off and the windows down its too easy for someone to reach in and move the shifter. granted the possibility of that happening is remote but thats not the point... the fail-safe is designed to protect for that one case where things do go wrong fo whatever reason. Anyway, if you want to do that pm me and i can give you exact info on how to layout and wire the switches...
