Besides Crutchfield.... receiver selector

Does anyone know of another comprehensive site where you can select and narrow down CD receivers by feature?

Particularly, ipod capability, bluetooth, standard power output, peak power output, etc.

I'm looking for a new head unit with Bluetooth and better ipod/iphone controls then the 9820 in the Exige.

I found this at Crutchfield...

Clarion CZ509 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

Power is 22x4 (versus 14x4 for the stock Alpine), has Bluetooth, better iPod/iPhone controls via USB and fairly decent reviews.

I'm replacing the front and rears with JL Audio TR525-CXi speakers.

I just don't want to go with a sub and amp, but the stock config is a bit weak for me

just a note on the TR's i'd double check on their depth... on the VR line the 525's are their deepest speakers they make at 2.5" mounting depth which looks to be too deep without spacers, they're deeper than the vr600's or vr650's.... i'm installing the VR600's soon and they're at 2.38" depth which looks like it's gonna be tight fit on depth, but for sure will fit on diameter with just a little trimming of the mounting hole. The 600vr's definitely fit inside the recessed area of the back trim panel. (which most 6.5" don't)... the vr650's don't.

Sonic electronix has the vr600's for a pretty good price.

otherwise, sorry never heard of any other site with comparison shipping like the crutch. Amazon also has a good return policy like the crutch though, so i've bought from them with confidence i can return if it doesn't meet my expectations.

I'm using Jim Clayton's adapter rings for the front.

The TRs are 2.5" deep.

The rear's shouldn't be an issue.

Thx.

oops... point of clarification... i'm referring entirely to the fitting of them in the rear. I'll be running jims rings in front too. Looking at how the foam rests against the rear plastic trim panel (and that the stock rears are 2.1" mounting depth. I suspect the 2.5" depth will be touching the aluminum of the rear bulk head based on what people told me in a thread i started but i have read of people planning on putting the vr/tr 525's back there so seemingly they should fit, but then they wouldn't post back that all went okay.

Maybe you end up just flexing or pulling the trim panel away from the bulk head a little as you tighten up the screws... Anyway, here's a link to my thread just for reference.

What actual diameter of grill will the rear speaker recess fit? Polk vs. JL

I'd be interested in your observations when you get them installed (if you beat me to it, which is likely)

I have the jl audio vr 525s..

I used jim claytons rings for the front

The rears WILL hit the back, so you'll need to cut some rings for the rear to space the speakers out. I went with 1/2" thick to be sure, but you could prob go with 1/4.

...car audio security lists a much broader range of products than crutchfield, particularly european models which aren't available in the north american market, which makes sense since they're based out of the UK...

...i've never bought anything from them (yet), so i can't speak to their service nor inventory reliability, but certainly their listings are far more comprehensive of exotic electronics...
