Blaupunkt AcapulcoMP54 iPod Cable - Help Please
I just installed the 023IPODCBL optional iPod Cable in my 2006 Exige with the AcapulcoMP54 Receiver.
Like others have said, I cannot use it with my iPhone 3G. It will not charge nor will audio come through the receiver. Nothing. Their must be a way to put a new connector to make this just an AUX in. Or cut off the iPod Connector and attach a new one. If an iPod works with it and audio is traveling to the receiver there must be a way to modify it for other devices. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! +anthony

Update #1
I may be the only one that cares, but today I verified that the 4th (one before the latest Sept 9, 2009 version) iPod will play perfectly, but will NOT charge.
The iPhone 3G remains as no Audio no Charge. I may try the Griffin Charge Converter as one user review said that it restored Audio to his setup. Or I think I need the RCA Cable instead of the iPod Cable for this receiver. Why must Apple make these annoying changes? +anthony

i treated myself to a 2G itouch and found the same thing.
as i had given the G1 itouch to my granddaughter, i had to beg for return of the G1 for which i gave her the G2. if she gets any accessories for her itouch, they will probably be updated types. |

So I tried out a Charge Converter today and while it now charges my iPhone, the audio will still not pass through the stock Blaupunkt.
It makes no sense, it's like the iPhone does not detect the cable. There must be a solution. Anyone? But at least I can charge my iPhone in the car now.

I may try to rewire a 3G iPhone Dock, but the AUX cable is looking more & more like the only solution.
Then you can use a Griffin LiquidAUX to charge & play, but that's a lot of wires to run around the inside of the car.

Solution found!
So after giving this too much thought and too much time, I did find a solution.
It requires the Blaupunkt iPod Cable & Radio Shack RCA to cut or their RCA AUX Cable. You can find these for like $9.99 OEM or find good clones on eBay. IceLink iPod to RCA Cable with Power Charge Converter (I needed this because a friend gave me his old IceLink Cable, a new IceLink that supports iPhone 3G and other newer devices (USB Charging) may not need one. If you use the Blaupunkt iPod Cable you will have to cut the cable and solder on the RCA (Red & White) to it. The plus here is that you can use the receiver for power. If you use the Blaupunkt RCA AUX Cable, you have to find power to tap into. Since I got some parts from a friend, my cost to do this was like $20. It would be more if you have to buy the IceLink and if you need the Charge Converter. A fine example of never giving up! Now I have my iPhone 3Gs working perfectly with a stock Blaupunkt Acapulco. Hope it helps someone else. +anthony

Where did you buy that cable? I have an 05 with the MP54 unit and a classic 160G Ipod. Is that cable all I need? Not worried about charge as Ipod last a ridiculous amt of time and don't plan on leaving it in car
