In Car security cameras

Has anyone ever used these security cameras? I know they may seem silly to some people but after having vandals damage one of my cars recently and a few in the past I figured they might not be a bad idea considering how costly repair bills run on these cars.

Heres the link
Car Camera Voyager Dashboard Car Camera ONLY $99!

They look like they might work, but I wouldn't mount it on my dash.

It looks like it would be effective, but man that video was absolutely terrible.

And.. what exactly keeps a vandal/thief from ripping the camera off the dash, assuming they make it into the car?

The concept is not impossible, but I doubt one of those silly things will get you there.

Being in the business, I can tell you that thing is just something else to get stolen out of your car when they break into it. If you are that concerned, work with a high end car audio shop to do a remote mounted DVR and pinhole type cameras or just use what we put in school buses and subway cars: Safety Vision - Your global source for total mobile video surveillance solutions

yup, there are much better options out there with motion detection record, loop feature (tapes over old footage), better video quality, multiple camera capability, and on-board video playback, etc.

I prefer "out of car" CCTV to monitor the whole car in my parking lot.
Cheers,
Michael

I agree. I definitely wouldn't put the camera on the dash. If I did get the cameras I would place them somewhere towards the back of the interior with velcro.

The out of car monitor would work great but the purpose of the "in car camera" is to watch who vandalizes your car when your at the mall, friends place, store, or happen to have a run in with vandals at a local Chipole like I did.

I agree, but the limitations of an onboard camera is it's limited field of view, someone could key the 3 sides of the car outside it's view and not be seen. I personally prefer a exterior perimeter alarm. A camera is not going to stop vandalism, but an alarm just might. I have observed people jump back in surprise as they approach my car.

I thought about that when I saw Yokozunas video of his car at the movies. These cameras are only $99 so I could buy two of them and try to set them up in a way that gets two or three angles. Maybe the whole idea is silly but its just frustrating when people mess with your cars for no reason.

I feel the same and have gone to rather extreme measures to try to protect my car .
