G-meter choices?

I have an Elise and a kit car which I have been getting curious on comparing. So I've decided I would like to invest in a G-meter on some sorts. I know the G-tech meter series seems to be the most available ones, but are there others that are better, cheaper, etc. Accuracy would be nice, but I'm mostly interested in a comparison between my vehicles.

What do you use?

do you have an ipod touch? or iphone?
there are a couple of cheap apps on the list for just that.
you might look at pocket dyno or dynolicious.........

I do not currently own one, but I am considering it now if it's going to cost me nearly the same for a g-tech meter as a new phone with the app. Then again, I bet the G-tech would be more accurate and I don't need a new phone.

I've used this: GTech-Pro Model RR

In fact, here's some data that I posted from a track session: Big Willow with SpeedVentures, Feb. 8 2009

It's a nice little unit, but there were three problems I had with it:

1) The mounting bracket is a bit flimsy... the ball and socket came apart and had to be glued back together.
2) The LCD display is impossible to read with polarized sunglasses.
3) The RPM data was sometimes spotty... i.e. dropouts in the data

That does look like decent data. And that would be scalable for if I ever get to the track on a regular basis.

Of course we have very high resolution G Data on all of our video recorders.

But wait a month or so and you will see more data announcements from ChaseCam.

+1

And it's done well too. The recording unit can be mounted in any orientation and calibrated to give proper accel/decel and lateral G readings. Many other G-meters have to mounted precisely in one orientation to give true G readings.
