Has anybody fitted a indash screen ?

Just curious as to has any one fitted an indash motorised screen to the elise/exige

From my understanding it will hit the dash when it comes out , if this is the cash has any one managed to fabricate a screen into the dash

Many thanks
Luke

...JVC offers a single-DIN head unit which handily avoids any clearance issues...

you may need more posts, but do the advanced reply (just click the "Post Reply" button just to the bottom left of all the posts on this page) scroll down a bit & click the "manage attachments". You can add pics there.

Alternatively, if the pics are on the web, simply enclose the URL to the image inside img tags, so "[ img ] http://whatever.com/pic.jpg [ /img ]" (no spaces or quotes).

I also have the JVC KD-AVX77, but the screen is too small and is only good for backup not for real time mirror.

Finally took the pictures for my installation.

The first picture is the camera. The second one is the 5" GPS for the AV from the camera.

I have the AVIC-N3. It knicks the windshield wiper on when opening, but I leave it open all the time, so it's not an issue.

It's paired to a new Alpine HCE-C105 rear camera that is fantastic.

Few pictures:

It is a dirt cheap 5" GPS from 5 Inch Touch Screen GPS Navigator With Bluetooth based on Windows CE, so a lot of maps do work with it.

It comes with EU and US detail maps in different languages, I tried it in GB, Frankfurt, CA, etc... and it is very good. Only cost less than USD120.00.

RHD example

This is an 06 RHD but it maybe what you want. When installed the guys installed the head unit about 2cm out from full seating into the dash and fabricated a neat plastic surround to match.

Should be much easier in your car than the newer ones since the stereo is mounted on the passenger side rather than in the middle of the dash. The mid mount is a problem because the screen tends to bump into the wiper or indicator stalk (LHD or RHD dependent) on deployment.

Too dangerous to leave open in LA, so I removed the turn stalk, cut it down and rebonded the end cap and back piece. Fairly easy job and is nearly undetectable. Just wish I could remove the now half present washer graphics...
