How do you remove the stock Alpine speaker grills?
Do I just pry them off?

I usually take a pair of tweezers, place the sharp points between the holes in the mesh of the grills, and lift upward.

That won't bent the mesh of the grill?

No, the mesh is fairly strong, and you really don't need that much force. Use the tweezers on the part of the mesh that's vertical, i.e. just before it disappears inside the plastic bezel...

There is a small tab at the bottom most part of mine buried in the plastic surround. With very gentle pressure pushing up on the bottom edge (right at 6 o'clock where the tab is), the grill will easily lift out.

I used a very tiny screwdriver with cloth around it, put it between the plastic and the mesh and pryed it out. Its very easy to get out, you won't break the grill, but watch scratching the plastic.

I just use my fingernails. Get an edge, pop it out, the rest is cake once one tab is loose.
