iPod/RCA wire install
Installing/Routing your iPod/AUX Audio wires[/u]
Special note for the haters: I realize this isn't a true iPod charging adapter, but the AUX audio input kit was given to me uninstalled by the previous owner so I don't think it's worth purchasing another kit .Step1: Remove stereo (BestBuy tech used tool for free, tipped $10) Note: our cars use the VW removal tools so no worries if your audio shop doesn't carry the Blaupunkt brand ![]() Step2: Remove passenger side panel (2 screws on bottom) ![]() Step3: Remove passenger side speaker ![]() Step4: Remove side panel "thingy" by pulling the dash towards you while pushing in & sliding the panel "thingy" ![]() Step 5: Cut cardboard hanger piece to size & tape the audio input/iPod adapter end to it. ![]() Step 6: Push the wires from the stereo hole, behind the airbag, to the passenger speaker hole. Note This took me several tries to get it right, but if done correctly the coat hanger piece should run directly into the speaker hole, you shouldn't have to struggle or reach far with your fingers. ![]() ![]() Step 7: Untape wires from cardboard hanger & feed through opening ![]() Step 8: Put some extra tape on the rca connectors going into the stereo unit to ensure they don't come loose & put everything back together. ![]() |
