A coworker got her 3g iphone about 20 days before release of 3gS so she took it back and got the new fancy one. its an improvement, but I can wait.

I just ordered a Jawbone bluetooth headset (to only be used in cars) on woot.com. we shall see if its everything they say it is.
It is $200?? (err, $199).

I went from G2 to G3s, very nice. Almost got a G3 2 months ago.

I had no idea a new phone was coming out. Glad I got side tracked.

Not for those of us who upgraded about 6 months ago to the 3G...its 4-600 I can't remember which. I just remember saying "ha, yeah right."

Its 199.00 for those who are eligible for upgrade (2 yr contract is almost up.) - unless this has changed?

Rob
Not when you look at connecting to the internet. 2G speed vs 3G speed is a massive difference.

I suppose that if/when more intensive apps become available we will be able to tell more of a difference. But right next to each other at this point in time I have to say its faster for sure, but not to an extent I'd pay 400.00 to get it. The 3GS I played with had no aftermarket apps, so I wasn't able to test it on some of the apps that run slower on my 3G. so there could be some difference there, but I wouldn't call it night and day.

Ah yes, the 2 yr contract.

I'll probably wait for Verizon's offering -- I know when I went from the 2G to the 3G, my average internet performance comes out about the same -- this is mostly due to AT&T's poor coverage. When the 3G is working it's fast, but it's rarely working at a good speed. 2G was slow, but it chugged along pretty consistantly.

It's ironic that Steve Jobs originally went to Verizon with the iPhone and was rejected (couldn't work out a deal) -- so Jobs was forced to go with AT&T (which he knew had poor coverage/performance). Now Verizon CEO is or has worked out a deal for the new iPhones with Mr. Jobs (only this time Verizon has A LOT less leverage).

They did soften up a little. If you bought the 3G before Sept. last year, you can get the 3GS for less than that ($399/$499), but more than for a new customer.

Did you buy the 3G for 199 back last year?

If so I'm going to Cingular...err ATT

Its strange, ATT has excellent coverage here...and nobody else has much of any coverage. Verizon just got into our market when they bought out alltel. SO we shall see if they'll fix the alltel poor coverage. I have no quams with going to Verizon IF they will match the coverage of ATT here. (apparently I'm in one of the few areas where ATT has good coverage?)

Doesn't the stereo bluetooth thing work with the "old 3g" using the new 3.0 software?
