Wow, those front speaker "grills" look very distracting. Bet it sounds nice though.

That's one of the nicest setups I've seen in this car.

nice... are you worrying about the sun cooking your woofers?

I just googled those, are they really 4000 for the set?

FWIW, the plastic/foam dash doesn't block the satellite signal, so you will get just as good reception if you place the antenna underneath the dash.

Very nice. Got any photos of the mount that you attached to the chassis?

Also, ditch the stock mirror, you won't believe how much safer the car is without it.

Dean, did you baffle the front speakers? IMO the placement is the weak link. They are using a very cluttered inner dash as a speaker baffle, hardly a finite enclosure.

the front were taken care of with this

and a small peace of this

then sealed with this

we made a pocket with the stuff and placed on the bottom a small peace of Blackhole 5
them sealed with Blackhole SEAL

so the front end is mint

Wow... I like it. I would be one of those that has an Elise but also wants really good sound. It's that simple. Soooo... if that is difficult to understand perhaps something else is amiss.

for pics for the amp rack i dont realy have any
this is half of it

so these 2 stubs are welded to a plate that is then mounted to the floor with4 x 1/2 inch toggle bolts solid as hell then the rack slips over top of them to give a clean install

the rack is supported with two 2 1/2" tubes
the top of the tubes are bent at a 45 and cut to a 90 then welded to a 1/8" plate that has been mounted to the amp

you cant even shake the mount its so solid
the mount weighs in at 6 3/4 lb so its not too bad

Cool...I need to do that. I just have some high end Diamond audio coaxes, but wow is the mid muddy, I was too lazy to baffle. If you have any extra baffle material stuff let me know

Is the extra +/- 10 lbs of stereo stuff really noticeable? If I recall I have read a few posts that some of these cars need to be kept above half tank of gas when out on the track to eliminate fuel starvation. Seems like keeping a extra 5 gallons of fuel at what 8-10lbs per gallon weigh quite a bit more then a small amp.

I would guess that unless the car is always on a racetrack (thus a very exerienced driver) the extra 10ish lbs of stuff will not take away from daily enjoyment of the car. Probably make it better actually

Wow, major kudos on putting together a fine high-end system.

The weight penalty is only one reason why people are saying "+1, +2, etc". The Elise is so noisy and has such bad acoustics to begin with it seems kind of strange to spend a lot of time and effort on the stereo system.

My stock radio was turned off 90% of the time while I was driving... I could barely hear myself think let alone the stereo at any reasonable speed.
