I just bought a Tom Tom 130S. its a pretty decent unit. there are aspects of the old garmin my ex stole much more. (menus mainly).

The Tom Tom's text to speech is a nice thing to have even though it butchers most street names. It seems to take quite some time to locate GPS satellites. which was irritating when in a foreign (to me) city. All in all I like it. I d/l a Lotus badge as my startup screen, and a little orange elise as my car. (sadly they don't have a blue one avail.) I'm waiting for the "KITT" from nightrider voice....but we shall see how well it works. I'm disappointed with the lack of TTS voices. I have a choice of 2...

It did the job of preventing me getting lost.

It also did a strange thing, taking me on small rural highways much longer than necessary to get to the interstate to goto San Antonio....not sure WTF was up with that.

did you do a software update? I never had problems acquiring the satellites, but last time I updated the software, it included a program that was called "fast satellite signal update" or something like that. My Tomtom gets full signal within a minute.. basically as soon as I buckle in, turn on the ignition and pull out of my garage, i have signal... meanwhile my GF's $500 Garmin takes 10mins to acquire signal sometimes.

Yeah I updated it before my trip. and downloaded that same thing. I'm not sure if it was b/c I was in downtown san antonio (really tall buildings). I was just blown away at how slow it was to find satellites on my trip.
