Europe Drive Question

Remember a while back when an ET'er came over to the US and drove across?

What sort of things would need to be considered if you were to return the favor, take your US car to Europe and do a loop?

What is the rough cost of shipping the car there and back?

Not planning, just wondering.

Figure about $900 for RoRo (roll-on, roll-off) transport each way. For a container, you can get your own 20' container for ~$2200 each way, or if you're willing to share a 40', $12-1500. Don't forget to buy insurance, either! It should cost you about 1.25% of the value of the car. Cheapest port to ship to in Europe is Bremerhaven, Germany.

Use an agent

My company does a lot of international shipping. I used that agent and it helped smooth out a few rough spots. Europe should be easy but things that should happen do not, and things that should not happen do. In Africa it took over 3 days to finish the paperwork even with the agent already doing everything before I could get my bike.

Patience is the key word.

There are also many motorcycle touring books and websites that detail the paperwork and list a few agents and shipping companies.
