Smile Los Angeles to Tampa

Leaving tonight to drive Liz to Tampa to go hang with my girlfriend Blonde1's Lotus. I will be driving alone and have a rough itinerary. Will be taking the 10 from Los Angeles to Tallahassee then down to Tampa.

Liz already has 36k miles on her so no warranty.

I need to get there in time to attend the PRI show in Orlando on Friday and Saturday so I won't be spending much time doing anything else other than driving.

Wish me luck if I have any car issues I will be back here looking for assistance. I will be checking here every night as I am addicted.

You will probably pass quite a few of us on I-10. How many days are you planning on taking? Wave as you pass SA. Have fun and drive safe!!!

4 or 5 should do it unless I can stay behind the wheel safely for longer. I will be sure and wave all the way to Tampa then the waving will be replaced by another gesture.

When you check back in, what is the plan on the trip as far as dates? Leaving Friday night from SoCal. Stopping in Arizona?

Sat New Mexico? Texas?
Sun Texas? Louisiana?
Mon Panhandle of Florida?
Tue Deep into Florida?
Wed Recuperate?

I made that trip in the opposite direction, but I stopped and visited along the way, so it took me three weeks to get from Tampa Bay to SD. I was being chased by a hurricane through Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Lousianna. Exciting! hehe
Behind me was a massive evacuation. That is a long long drive. I am glad that I made my trip in an MR2 and not an Elise. (for seating comfort). I stopped the night in Tucson, Albuquerque, and Amarillo on the western part of the trip. Then stayed just south of Dallas for a visit. Shreveport, LA about scared me too death. Scary town for a woman driving alone.

Anyway, have a safe trip!

I've also made the trip from Tampa to SoCal. Took me 2 1/2 days of driving.
Best of luck on your trip.

My son just moved from Orlando to Newport. He and his brother made the trip - it was nice.

They were surprised at snow in Texas and New Mexico. Is supercharged Marauder has not seen much rain let alone snow.

Drive Safe.

Here is a rough itinerary for the drive to Tampa. Got started later than I planned but the weather is much better.

Saturday night drive to Phoenix (361 miles) Here now.

Sunday I hope to make it into Ft. Stockton, TX but I have reservations in El Paso. Phoenix to Ft. Stockton 672 miles.

From there I hope to make it to Port Allen, LA may stay with a friend. It will be quite a haul over 770 miles. So I may be spending the night somewhere still in Texas.

Upon leaving there I will head to Marianna, FL on Tuesday. Port Allen to Marianna 382 miles.

Then Marianna to Tampa 338 miles on Wednesday.

Thursday rest. Friday head to Orlando to attend the PRI show Saturday head back to Tampa.

I have done this run several times. Since you have already started you can not change your route. On the way home I suggest not taking the 10. But head north and take I-40.

It is faster and much much prettier. I can show you the route at PRI. I will be there thursday and friday.

I think that is a good idea. Plus you might as well see different things.

And I would recommend taking 75 north up through Atlanta (maybe stop by Lotus of USA?) and then 29 through Blairsville and up to 29 and Tail of the Dragon.

Then take Cherohola Skyway (74) west onto 64 to Memphis and then to I-40.

It would add a day to the trip, but it would be worth it.

Lucky for you that you were able to get a room in Ft. Stockton. When I went there about a month ago all the hotels were booked...some oil field workers event and the Chili cookoff at Terlingua.
