PCH Trip Google Earth Topographic Fly Through, With Photo's
Fun with Google Earth, a digital camera, a Lotus Elise, and too much time
If you saw my other post you already know I recently took a trip up PCH to San Francisco from Los Angeles. I was messing about with google earth and was able to set up a topographic fly through of the trip with photo's I took along the way. It's a little involved to set up but I think you'll like the results. here's what you need to do to watch the show: 1) Download the attached file and extract PCH-trip-12-2007.kmz from the .zip archieve & open it with Google earth. 2) In Google Earth this will load under Places/Temporary Places/PCH-trip-12-2007 3) On the top bar under tools -> options -> touring set the following values: Tour Speed = 0.075 Tour Pause = 5.0 check the box ON for "Show balloon when tour is paused" 4) Under layers turn on terrain and borders and labels, turn off all other layers. 5) Select PCH-trip-12-2007 under places and push play under places. Don't have google earth? download it here: http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html Link to the original post about the trip: Your Favorite PCH (Highway 1) Hole in the Wall Destinations, LA->SF Hope you enjoy it and have a great holiday everyone! And thanks special thanks to those of you that gave me some great places to stop along the way. Sean

Awesome trip, Sean. Great pics. The view on Google Earth is amazing.
I 've done this trip many times, just never get to do it in my Lotus. I guess I'll have to put it on the schedule for this spring. Thanks for the look. Steve
